Beginning Saturday, January 14th, East End Arts, a multi-award winning Riverhead-based not-for-profit arts organization, and Good Ground Yoga, “a vibrant, creative center where people gather to embrace the spirit of yoga & holistic healing”, are teaming up to host a new series of art talks, in an effort to get an insider’s view on art and the artist. Writer and sculptor Jonathan Pearlman will lead the art talks that will also include a different featured artist each month.
The lectures will cover an artist’s process, from start to finish. “Consider – what happens before paint meets canvas? Was the painting first a vision, a thought, a color or a vague idea of something waiting to be discovered? And when paint finally does meet canvas, what then?” Pearlman pondered. “Art is often an expression of ideas as well as images, and how an artist approaches this challenge can offer a blueprint for navigating the complexities of daily life.”
The series will launch on Saturday, January 14th at 4 p.m. with special guest artist Peter Beston. During One Painting— One Artist and The Creative Mind, Pearlman and Beston will discuss one of Beston’s paintings.
Peter Beston currently resides in East Quogue, after studying art extensively at Croydon College of Art and Hampstead School of Art in London and at West Dean College in Sussex, England. His paintings are featured in multiple galleries throughout the East End.
Admission to the new conversation series is free, and the event is open to the public.
