This spring, five artists, in the fields of literary, performing, and visual arts, and curatorial/critical studies, will take part in the 2017 Guild House Artist-in-Resident (AIR) spring program.

"The Guild House AIR was founded in 2016 as a tenet of Guild Hall's mission to nurture, cultivate, and celebrate the artistic spirit of the East End of Long Island," noted Andrea Grover, Executive Director of Guild Hall.

The program's open call received 131 online applications from artists in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Germany, Iran, Ireland, Russia, Singapore, Sudan, and the United Kingdom. 14 East End residents applied to AIR. This year's participants were selected by Guild Hall's Academy of the Arts Selection Committee that was comprised of Paul Goldberger, architectural critic and educator; Ralph Gibson, photographer; Stephen Hamilton, actor/director; and Dava Sobel, science writer/novelist. Guild House AIR Coordinator, Marianna Levine, and Academy President, Eric Fischl, oversaw the application process.

AIR artists will include Lucia Davis, Curatorial/Critical Studies, who was selected by Goldberger; Tanya Gabrielian, Performing Artist, who was chosen by Hamilton; Lydia Hicks, visual artist who was selected by Gibson; Judson Merrill, Literary Artist, who was chosen by Sobel; and Walter Price, Visual Artist who was selected by Gibson.

Davis is a resident of Greenport. She founded The Art Bus Project (www.theartbusproject.com), a not-for-profit organization and mobile exhibit that is dedicated to art exposure, education and engagement. Davis is also a journalist and editor whose work has appeared in Atlas Obscura, Alumni Horae, minonline and The Minetta Review.

During the eight week program, artists are provided a living space and monthly stipend, as well as guidance from members of Guild Hall's Academy of the Arts, a nationwide association of highly successful creative individuals, and have the opportunity to interact with the Hamptons' cultural community. Connecting with the area's artists as well as collaborations with local arts and cultural institutions is considered an integral part of the two month workshop. At the end of the residency, the artists will showcase their work at Guild Hall's John Drew Theater.

"Guild House AIR encourages the next generation to contribute to the area's rich creative legacy by bringing emerging artists to the region and providing a foundation for individual development," added Grover.

The spring AIR program will take place from March 11th through May 7th.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
