With the summer season wrapping up, it's time for artists all over the East End to take a break from the beach, as the Art Barge opens its doors for its classic Weekend Workshops. This year, the Barge will be offering three different Weekend Workshop options - Art and Science, Art for the Family, and Inspired Writing.

"The Art Barge is unlike any other place in Long Island," said Art Barge President Christopher Kohan. "We are excited to open our doors on the weekends for the Art + Science, Art for the Family, and Inspired Writing workshops to people of all ages. The Art Barge's landscape is the ideal setting for working in the studio."

Arts and Science, a collaborative workshop with the Cornell Cooperative Extension, will feature a series of educational activities lead by CCE's scientists and Art Barge instructors. The series will focus on water quality, habitat, aquaculture, and fisheries, exploring these topics through an artistic lens. Classes include: The Salt Marsh, Nature's Water Filter, Seine & Sketch, Flora and Algae Pressing, Light in the Water Column, Oysters and Scallops and Clams, Coastal Plants, Fish in Our Waters, and Marine Debris. These workshops will be held throughout August on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Art for the Family will encourage family members of all ages to try out different mediums together, with projects ranging from painting and collage to sculpture and assemblage. The daily workshop, led by Franca Bombieri, will be taught both in the Barge studio and on the beach and will take place on Saturday, August 13th, and Saturday, August 27th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In a slightly different vein, the Inspired Writing Workshop will utilize journal-writing techniques to focus on the specific modalities of perspectives, portraits, chiaroscuro, en plein air, and action writing. The two-day workshop, led by Sarabelle Prince will be held every Saturday and Sunday throughout July and August from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with Saturdays being focused on writing and Sundays on painting, collaging, and other mediums.

The Art Barge is located on Napeague Meadow Road in Amagansett. For more information, call 631-267-3172 or visit www.theartbarge.org.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
