Art lovers, gallerists, collectors, and friends, gathered together for a special private showing of selected artworks from Cuba this past weekend. Joan and George Hornig hosted this unique illuminating lecture and art show by Latin American gallery owner Carla Arzente in their Water Mill home.
Carla is an experienced and recognized expert on contemporary Latin American art. She brought with her a selection of works by three of the “hottest” artists in Cuba. The Hornig’s installed the pieces in their Garage Gallery, which is filled with plywood containers with hooks for special art installations during the summer months. Carla gave a talk to the assembled guests to put the work and Cuban visual vernacular in context. Two of the artists, William Perez and Estario Segura, were present for the special event. All of the art was available for sale, and 15 percent of proceeds went to the charity of the purchasers’ choice.
Carla is the founder of Salt Fine Art, a contemporary gallery dedicated to Latin American art and culture.
