Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is paying tribute to one of America's greatest filmmakers, Robert Altman, on Monday, June 8th at 7 p.m. Altman's Art will include a screening of "Gosford Park," a discussion of Altman's work and a talkback hosted by Bob Balaban, who will be accompanied by Guilia D'Agnolo Vallan and Kathryn Altman.

Altman's "Gosford Park" is a murder mystery satire, set in 1930s England that follows the lives of the rich and famous, and the intriguing stories of their servants, while on a hunting trip weekend. The production has previously been compared to Jean Renoir's classic "Rules of the Game" and "Ten Little Indians."

Following the film and the taklback, co-authors Kathryn R. Altman, Altman's widow, and Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan, a film critic, will host a book signing for the biography "Altman," the first official visual biography celebrating his life and career.

Altman was widely known as a pioneer in the film industry, creating favorites like "M*A*S*H," "Nashville" and "The Player." His work is described as having a signature "Altmanesque" style that is "as recognizable and familiar as Renoir's brushstrokes or Debussy's orchestrations," according to Martin Scorsese.

Tickets for this event, celebrating filmmaker Robert Altman, are $20.

Bay Street Theater is located at 1 Bay Street in Sag Harbor. For more information, and to purchase tickets, call 631-725-9500 or visit www.baystreet.org.
