Okay, so Town & Country Real Estate sent me this press release saying they are joining the movement and have gone green. "…our 2008 E-Rental Guide. With all the natural resources in question in the world we decided to 'go green' with our rental guide. Our agents have been emailing this to all their contacts and have had a great response, both with customers calling to rent, and, in general, the idea of us trying to do our part for the environment. This rental guide is available on our website."

So I went to the website. It is a snazzy piece and one can turn the pages. However, except for using the color green a lot, I searched for environmental information for their customers, clients, and viewers. I couldn't find it, and my eyes aren't that great anyway.
I emailed Laura Mott, Town & Country's marketing maven, and told her I was having trouble. Laura directs me - and I still don't get it! I just can't find the environmental spin. I emailed her back. Finally, Laura takes the time to explain, "This Rental Guide is distributed only via the internet, Lona. Thereby saving paper, saving trees, natural resources, and we are the first to do this in this way."
I got it. And they are right. Nice idea! Nice guide.
The East Hampton office of
Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate had two hot and huge deals transacted through their veteran broker, John Golden. Golden closed in the neighborhood of a $20 million deal in Montauk, and another big deal in Sag Harbor. Those are some nice neighborhoods.
Now, my facts may be off, because I wasn't able to really pin anyone down as to what, to whom, and when. But they happened – right from the Manager's mouth - and Golden once again, is on a high-end roll. It was smart of Howard Lorber, Prudential Douglas Elliman Long Island Realty honcho, along with CEO Dotty Herman, to seduce John Golden to their agency. We are told, (like Town & Country's Rental Guide) that seduction was "green: as well. Very green. (Note, how I restrained myself from using "golden opportunity".)
Back to our series of broker/agent pieces, we received this from Lori Barbaria, another Prudential Douglas Elliman long-time star, now selling from their Bridgehampton office.

"The brokers behind the brokers - I want to thank Corey Bezerman, my partner who has always been the nice guy, the good cop and the man behind the curtain. Successful people don't get there alone and Corey is a new, up and coming real estate superstar. The new tier is moving up, and they happen to play well in the sand box. He was in the garment industry 27 years, then moved out here in 2004, and went into real estate because it was his passion. (He used to find houses for all his friends). Corey came to me to ask for help and I asked him to work with me on the spot. We work together unbelievably well…like brother and sister. He is a gem who has his own major connections, and at the same time is completely dedicated to supporting me."
(Yes, well, I know a few brothers and sisters who are at each other's throats. So this must be a special broker/assistant relationship, indeed).
In any case those are generous words coming from the successful Lori Barbaria. But you never know, because east end real estate is a very strange business.
A footnote to you guys and gals working so hard, especially in these times, to earn a living. Take the time to write (email), communicate, anything of interest, for example send me information on this broker/agent series we are doing. You write. I read. I write. That's how it works!
