Big Deals

So let's get down to business. We wrote about best deals around one million dollars in the Hamptons and on the East End. Here are the home sales over $10 million that transferred the first 10 and a half months of 2007 courtesy of George Simpson at Suffolk Research Services.

Who was making these big deals? Well, here's one broker we would like to bring to your attention as part of a "broker stories" on-going series we mentioned to you a few weeks back.

Susan Breitenbach, of The Corcoran Group's Bridgehampton Office, has been the #1 broker at Corcoran in the Hamptons for the past two years. Before that she was #1 at Allan Schneider & Associates for more than ten years. At The Corcoran Group's annual party in East Hampton in December she was recognized by the firm as top East End sales agent by Sales Volume for 2007.

Breitenbach's name fist came to our attention when she was given the massive Gordon holdings called "Three Ponds" as an exclusive listing while still with Allan Schneider & Associates. It is on the market now at $68 million. Susan is still the co-exclusive listor. Recently she told us that, "I did give out three brochures for a group wanting a corporate retreat. It would be perfect!"

Susan seems to be a master of the big deal. In 2007, Breitenbach was the selling broker on the 26-acre property owned by Allan Schnurman and his partners which closed just under $40 million, the biggest land sale ever in Bridgehampton. She currently is the exclusive listing broker on "Tower Hill", Christie Brinkley's property which is being marketed for $30 million and has over 20 incredible acres, a main house, guest house, art studio, tennis court, swimming pool, rolling hills, gardens, and is extremely unique to say the least.

Property listed by Susan Breitenbach of The Corcoran Group.

Her credits include the sale of the highest priced property in North Haven during the summer of 2007. At just under $10 million, it was a very famous, but small, house built in the 1800s on a lovely waterfront property.

Breitenbach and Gary DePersia of The Corcoran Group's East Hampton Office were listed among a select group of brokers already mentioned on these pages for achieving over $50 million in Sales Volume.

Susan has been living out east full-time for 27 years. Before that her family has had a summer residence here since she was born. Her working career includes a stint on Wall Street for five years. She lived in both New Jersey and New York City before moving to the Hamptons.

Her husband, Stephen, is a high-end custom builder (Breitenbach Builders) who does work for architects such as Francis Fleetwood, John Laffey, and others. He is doing quite a few important projects right now on the ocean and was the builder of "Three Ponds Farm."

Their three children were raised here and one of them, her son Matt, is also a broker at The Corcoran Group. Mother and son sometimes work together on listings and customers. Another son, Michael, lives in New York City and works for a Wall Street firm. Their daughter, Samantha, lives in Brooklyn and is attending the Pratt Institute.

Nice work, Susan Breitenbach, because as we all know east end real estate is a very strange business. (Not quite as tough as raising a family, though!).
