After nearly three years of being on the Hamptons real estate market, Richard Gere has reportedly unloaded his North Haven estate. The 12,000-square-foot Strongheart Manor was apparently scooped up by Today show co-anchor Matt Lauer.
The property was originally listed in July of 2013 for $65 million. Before Lauer purchased it, Gere slashed the price to $56 million, and lowered it again to $47.5 million. So, it seems like Lauer, who reportedly nabbed the property for $36.5 million, got a pretty good deal.
Located along Actors Colony Road, the Hamptons oasis was built in 1902 and features waterfront views from the 2,000-square-foot main house. The property also has two additional guest homes, an outdoor fireplace pavilion, and a tea house located in the middle of a pond.
Lauer will reportedly be getting rid of his Sag Harbor abode and a Hamptons cottage, but plans to keep his 40-acre Water Mill-based Bright Side Farm, according to Page Six.
