We all know house prices in the Hamptons are astronomical, but are they the highest in the country? It seems so.
Late last year, Sagaponack was edged out by Atherton, California on Forbes’ list of America’s Most Expensive ZIP Codes. But, Property Shark, a real estate website, recently released its list for 2015 and Sagaponack, which is part of the Town of Southampton, took home the “Most Expensive Zip Code” Gold Medal. 11962 (AKA Sagaponack) topped median sale prices across the United States with its $8,500,000 average. Prices in Atherton were $5,900,000.
Of the top 25, seven zip codes were located within New York, with three in the Hamptons. With a median sale price of $2,957,000, Bridgehampton landed the seventh spot. Shelter Island Heights wasn’t too far behind, earning tenth for its $2,797,500 average. And, Water Mill was the final East End hamlet to make the list, coming in at thirteenth with its $2,675,000 median sale price.
The rankings were based on median sale price of residential properties sold in 2015.
