A Hamptons real estate brokerage firm, Rosehip Partners of East Hampton, recently exposed a duo who tried to cheat a real estate salesperson out of a more than $3,000 commission fee in their blog HamptonsMarketwire
. Attorney Jon Terracciano and portfolio manager Jon Shechtman spent Saturday, April 6, with a Rosehip Partners agent looking at high end summer rentals.
The agent devoted two days working towards finding the right Hamptons rental. After the house tours the agent was pretty confident a deal was imminent. Jon and Jon, on the other hand, were in the middle of executing a scheme which cut the Rosehip Partners agent out of the deal. While visiting Hamptons homes with the agent the duo surreptitiously left handwritten notes informing the unsuspecting homeowners that they were interested in doing an "all cash deal" directly with the owners, leaving the agent in the dust.
Luckily for the agent a few of the homeowners who found the notes were "distressed, surprised, [and] disgusted" by what they found and let him in on the plot.
So, Hamptons real estate agents, be on the lookout for these two.
