Sagaponack -
Brown Harris Stevens of the Hamptons, the exclusive affiliate of Christie's International Real Estate, announces The Hedges Farm House, a classic home in Sagaponack, is on the market for $2.5 million.
Emma Clurman and
Peter Turino of Brown Harris Stevens were chosen as the sales and marketing agents of this prairie-style farm house in Sagaponack by the Peconic Land Trust. This sale will raise funds for farm and land preservation on the East End. The house totals approximately 1,920 square feet and is situated on an open one-acre parcel of land abutting a 10-acre reserve. Located at 201 Hedges Lane in Sagaponack, The Hedges Farm House is close to ocean beaches, village shops and transportation.
"We are very pleased that the Peconic Land Trust has selected Brown Harris Stevens to offer this rare and unique property for sale. In partnership with the Trust, Brown Harris Stevens will help to raise funds to fully recover the Trust's costs incurred by the purchase of the Pike Farm, just down the road, and to continue the Trust's acquisition of our rapidly vanishing open spaces which make our area so valuable to owners and visitors," said Clurman.
The property has a unique history. This quintessential Hamptons farm house, completed in 1930, is called "Hedges Farm House" after the original owner
Percy Hedges and the historic street on which it's located. The home was slated for demolition when the land underneath it was sold to pay for state and federal inheritance taxes. The house was gifted to the Peconic Land Trust, and in order to preserve it, it was relocated approximately 650 feet from its original location on Hedges Lane. To protect the rural heritage of the property, a façade easement will be placed on the farmhouse. The property may accommodate a finished basement, detached two car garage and swimming pool.
