Southampton - Engel & Völkers Yachting closed one of the world's largest transactions at $74 million, as
Inigo Nicholson finds buyer for 72-meter mega yacht "Clarena II."
Nicholson, a License Partner at Engel & Völkers Yachting Madrid, sold the mega yacht to a businessman from Latin America in the past few days. The offer price was $58 million euros (approximately $74 million USD). "This is one of the largest yachting transactions to be closed anywhere in the world.
It is also the first newly built yacht that we have sold," said Nicholson, who has now been commissioned to sell the buyer's previous yacht on their behalf.
The "Clarena II" is the largest vessel to be built at the Italian boatyard CRN Ancona to date, as well as being one of the largest yachts ever to have been built in Italy. She was only launched in September 2009 and is due for delivery to her new owner in July 2010.
Jonathan Lerner, managing director of the Southampton office said, "Along with fabulous homes, Engel & Völkers also has listings of great boats/yachts – from small sail or powered craft, to luxurious yachts to take you virtually around the sound, or around the world. If you're looking for first-class, premiere ocean worthy sea-craft, chances are we have what you're looking for."

Wow. I would think that the higher end home sellers in the Hamptons would benefit from the built-in clientele garnered from E&V yacht sale division- nice connections!
