More than 270 New Yorkers gathered as the Green-Wood Historic Fund presented its highest honor to Dozier Hasty and Nancy Havens-Hasty, longtime Brooklyn Heights residents and advocates of the borough’s cultural life during Green-Wood’s tenth annual fundraising gala. The gala proceeds, which totaled over $200,000, will support the restoration of the landmarked Weir Greenhouse, which will open in early 2018 and Green-Wood’s planned Education & Welcome Center to be built directly adjacent to the greenhouse.

The inaugural Chita Rivera Awards for Dance and Choreography, recognizing the work of choreographers and dancers on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and on film, was held at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth hosted the soiree, which featured performances from A Bronx Tale, Come From Away, and the revival of Sweet Charity. New York City Ballet’s Antonio "Nino" Vendome, Chairman of The Vendome Group, was honored with Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts and Humanities.

Following a day at the beach, A Walk On Water, a non-profit organization that provides Surf Therapy to individuals with special needs, presented a benefit in support of its 3rd Annual East Coast Surf Therapy Event at Montauk Beach House in Montauk. Cynthia Rowley, Athena Calderone, Alexandra Richards and many more came out to support the organization, which is dedicated to celebrating and honoring children and adults with special needs along with their families, providing a chance to experience the thrill of surfing and its therapeutic qualities during two incredible days at the beach.
