Amagansett - After 44 combined years running local day camps and children's athletic programs in the Town of East Hampton, SPORTIME Amagansett and East Hampton Sports Camp have entered into a long-term partnership that will combine their camps, with the goal of creating the best summer camp in the Hamptons at SPORTIME's expansive campus in Amagansett.

Starting in summer 2011, East Hampton Sports Camp @ SPORTIME will make its home at SPORTIME Amagansett, which features 33 Har-Tru tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, playing fields, an outdoor multi-sport court and playground, a pre-school camp building with age-appropriate classrooms and an art studio, a pro shop and a snack bar. In addition to the pre-school camp and tennis programs that SPORTIME families have loved for decades, East Hampton Sports Camp @ SPORTIME will offer the best multi-sport and specialty sports camp in the Hamptons. Campers will receive expert instruction from world-class coaches, certified teachers and pros and extraordinary counselors. Specialty sports options include SPORTIME's trademarked Junior Tennis Kinetics and Excel Tennis programs, and clinics in baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse and roller hockey.

For the past 20 years, East Hampton Sports Camp (EHSC) has been directed by dynamic, hands-on owners Mark Crandall and Eric Scoppetta. EHSC has produced generations of campers and athletes who value good sportsmanship and teamwork. East Hampton Sports Camp @ SPORTIME will remain under the day-to-day and personal direction of Mark and Eric. According to Crandall, "This is an opportunity to run an amazing camp with even more options for kids on SPORTIME's beautiful 23-acre campus, and with access to a new state-of-the-art sports arena. SPORTIME is a great partner, and we are excited to officially become part of the SPORTIME family, although we have been extended family for years. My wife Sue has been managing SPORTIME Amagansett for 11 years and my two daughters have attended SPORTIME's camp since they were three!"

Since 1987, SPORTIME Amagansett has offered high quality pre-school, tennis, sports and swimming programs. In January, SPORTIME commenced a 15-year license with the Town of East Hampton to operate the sports arena at Terry King Park, right across the street from the tennis club. Improvements have already started and SPORTIME will invest more than $250,000 to transform this regulation indoor roller hockey rink into a state-of-the-art, multi-sport arena. SPORTIME will be air-conditioning the arena and adding three full basketball courts, three competition volleyball courts, player bathrooms and changing areas. East Hampton Sports Camp @ SPORTIME will have exclusive use of the arena during the camp day for activities such as hockey, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, flag football and dodgeball.

Claude Okin, CEO of SPORTIME, an Amagansett-based company that operates 13 tennis and sports clubs across New York State, explained, "Our Amagansett club was my first large-scale club and I was just 26 when we started there. This was before I had five kids of my own, but we have always focused on our programs for kids and families. SPORTIME runs great camps all over NY State, but East Hampton Sports Camp @ SPORTIME is going to be the best camp we have ever done!"

Pre-School Camp
Ages three to five; 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Pre-School Camp with Extended day (ages four through five); 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Young campers enjoy a daily curriculum (half or full-day options) that includes sports and games, tennis, arts and crafts and both recreational and instructional swimming under the supervision of certified Water Safety Instructors and lifeguards. Children will participate in a variety of activities in a fun, safe and supportive environment. East Hampton Sports Camp@SPORTIME's early childhood summer program has the best counselors, coaches and teachers on the East End.

Multi-Sport
Ages six through 13; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

East Hampton Sports Camp@SPORTIME's Multi-Sport camp program offers an amazing variety of sports and activities in a fun and supportive environment. The basic camp day includes expert instruction in tennis, swimming and team sports, combined with classic camp games and creative activities. Campers learn the importance of good sportsmanship and teamwork while playing tennis, baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, dodgeball, capture-the-flag and more! From 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., campers have the option of focusing more intensely on tennis or another specific sport. Specialty Sport choices include baseball, basketball, soccer, roller-hockey and lacrosse, or campers may choose to stay on the multi-sport track, where they will continue to participate in a diverse program of recreational and social activities. And, for the ultimate change of pace, campers may also choose to spend the afternoon at the beach with our certified lifeguards. Campers are free to mix and match sports and electives to customize their own unique camp experience!

Sports Clinics And "Open Arena" Pic-Up GamesFrom July 4 through August 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the SPORTIME Multi-Sport Arena. Each evening of the summer camp season, the SPORTIME Amagansett Multi-Sport Arena welcomes young athletes, 12-17 years old, to play a variety of sports including volleyball, basketball, flag football and roller hockey.
