New York City - The Bike to the Beach Foundation (B2B), a DC-based non-profit is hosting its second annual Bike to the Beach NYC, from Union Square to Westhampton Beach to raise money for Autism Speaks, the Nation's largest Autism organization.

Traditionally, B2B has held one bike ride per year, training and preparing registered riders to pedal their way from Washington, DC., to the shores of Dewey Beach, Delaware, all the while promoting awareness regarding autism.

This year, B2B will ignite its mission flames in NYC for the second year in a row, taking riders from Manhattan to Westhampton Beach on June 10, 2011. The 5th annual DC century-ride for charity is scheduled for July 29, 2011. Since 2007, B2B has raised over $750,000 for the foundation's beneficiary, Autism Speaks.

B2B NYC has over 75 registered riders for the NYC Century Ride.

Ben Dalley, Co-Founder and Co-President of B2B, has been "biking to the beach" annually since 1998. Ben shares the sentiment of many riders, that "B2B continues to provide the premiere opportunity for cyclists of all levels to get involved in their community - events are both challenging and fun, and that's what keeps our participants smiling!" Another reason for good cheer: the B2B community rides for a good cause. B2B riders must commit to fundraising at least $500 for charity. "Each year, our riders shatter expectations, and raise an average of over $1,000/rider. That's simply a reflection of the type of people we attract – driven, goal-oriented, and committed to making a difference," adds Dalley.

In New York, Bike to the Beach has been made possible thanks to the help of its finish line sponsors, the Dune Deck and Saltwater Grill. These local partners provide a not-to-be missed finish line ceremony, house the Bikers, and provide a weekend full of fun for the riders, volunteers and supporters of Bike to the Beach.

Deloitte, for its annual day of service, is providing a brigade of volunteers for Bike to the Beach rest-stops, and B2B expects to a great ride for bikers and volunteers a like. "Our riders are the fuel, but our volunteers are the oil that keeps this engine running - you can't have one without the other. Luckily, our volunteer community is just as dedicated and driven as our riders," states Rob Walsh, B2B's Director of Operations. Interested riders, volunteers, and sponsors in DC and NYC can learn more, sign up, and participate through the B2B website – www.BiketotheBeach.org.
