"It literally takes a village," Meredith Cohn told the sea of red revelers at the American Heart Association's 21st Annual Hamptons Heart Ball, at the Southampton Arts Center. In fact the Village of Southampton was being honored for bringing CPR and first aid training to our community. The minutes after a heart attack are crucial. Public access defibrillation and training can save a loved one.

For all those who lost a loved one to heart disease in the room, there was a "village" of revelers celebrating with those who were living with it, thanks, in part, to the research the AHA supports and the doctors in the room being honored.

Those honorees included Lori Mosca, MD Professor of Medicine Emerita and Director American Heart Association Go Red for Women Strategically Focused Research Network at Columbia University Medical Center and Ralph S. Mosca, M.D., George E. Reed, Professor of Cardiac Surgery, Vice Chair, Clinical Affairs, Division Director, Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Hassenfeld Children's Hospital Of New York, NYU Langone Medical Center. The Village of Southampton was also recognized for being a Heart Safe community. The 2017 Hamptons Heart Ball was chaired by George Benedict, Chair Emeritus of the Board of Seafield Center and Aubrey C. Galloway, M.D., Seymour Cohn Professor & Chairman, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, NYU Langone Medical Center.

Lori Stokes, ABC Eyewitness News Co-Anchor and the evening's Master of Ceremonies, was among those celebrating the accomplishments in heart care. "When I emcee an event I always have a personal connection to it," she told the room. "It's in my heart. My mother, when I was ten years old, contracted scarlet and rheumatic fever and then developed heart disease. 40 years ago, my dear friend renowned heart surgeon Toby Cosgrove, now the CEO of Cleveland Clinic, performed micro valve repair on her. She is 79 years old now going strong."

Jean and Martin Shafiroff, Arnie and Paola Rosenshein, Ava Roosevelt, Ann Liguori, David and Jill Kandell, Consuelo Costin Vanderbilt, Tracy Stern, Nicole Noonan, Barry and Marsha Altman, Dean and Maria Elana Christiansen, Jon and Joan Gruen and John and Terry Tortorella were among the guests.

There was an after party that drew more guests to the late night portion of the night. Music was provided by That 70's Band and DJ Martial. Elegant Affairs provided catering.

Philanthropy, red wine and exercise, Dr. Lori Mosca reminded the room, is good for your heart. Then, she got up and showed off some moves, thanks to the beat of That 70's Band.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
