On Saturday, June 28, 2014 over 350 guests flocked to the Nature Conservancy Center for Conservation in East Hampton for the annual Beaches and Bays Gala in support of clean local waters here on the East End and Long Island. This year, the conservancy honored Bobbie Braun and the Neuwirth Foundation, celebrating twenty years of support by the Andy Warhol Foundation.

"The work of the Nature Conservancy mirrors the ever changing world," said Honoree Bobbie Braun during her remarks. "The ability to constantly and consistently seek out ways to improve the quality of the air we breathe, the water we depend on, and the very quality of life for people is the essence of its mission. I believe helping people ultimately is the highest level of good work, and the nature conservancy's core mission is exactly that."

The event boasted a gala art show curated specifically for the night by Silas Marder, which featured the work of Jim Gingerich, Terry Elkins, and Catherine Krusos. There was also a special installation of projections taken at the Andy Warhol Preserve by Jill Musnicki.

Guests were encouraged to partake in art action painting. This style of painting influenced guests and participants to use their personal inspiration as initiative for helping the Nature Conservancy.

"Nitrogen pollution has been declared 'public enemy number one' across Long Island, from East Hampton to Glen Cove," noted Executive Director Nancy Kelley. "And public dollars for clean water improvements are starting to flow from local, state and federal agencies. The work to restore our waters has just begun, and The Nature Conservancy must continue to bring science, smart policy and effective communication to see this effort through."
