On Friday, April 19, 2013, the Peconic Bay Medical Center held its annual Candlelight Ball at The Inn & Spa at East Wind in Wading River. The event was emceed by Fox News Channel personality Ellis Henica. Guests gathered to show their support while dining and dancing throughout the night. Musical guests included Jerry Costanzo, The Swing Time Big Band, as well as dancing by members of the New York Swing Dance Society. The evening included a fantastic silent auction as well as a chance to win a new car or $20,000 cash in their Great East End Car Raffle.
More than anything, the night was about and honoring the doctors and nurses that work so hard to keep the Peconic Bay Medical Center going. Dr. Devendra Singh was honored with The Lifetime Achievement Award and another special moment in the evening included Debra Machado receiving the Nurse of the Year Award. Guests were happy to recognize the hard work of many others as well.
When asked why he thought this night was important, Mr. Henica explained, “If you are going to build a successful hospital for Suffolk County and the eastern side of Long Island people have to be willing to be part of that effort. That includes donors, that includes hospital staff, it includes all of us who are potential patients and need top flight medical care.” He continued, “There’s no reason that a community as supportive and generous and decent as this can’t come together and make sure we raise a bunch of money and continue this good work. It’s truly amazing… it really is just an exciting thing to be part of.” The evening certainly was amazing and exciting to be a part of. The Peconic Bay Medical Center’s Candlelight Ball brought together many members of the community in order to honor its hard working staff and raise money for a great cause.
