Last Chance Animal Rescue is a 100 percent volunteer run non-profit organization that rescues animals from high "kill" shelters who are scheduled to be euthanized. "There are so many wonderful animals who wind up in high kill shelters," said Founder/Director Whitney Knowlton
. "They are usually not rescued due to the expense and time that is required to properly care for them. These are beautiful animals who are highly adoptable, they just need to be afforded the opportunity to be saved."

Knowlton, and fellow volunteers are not only devoted to the animals they rescue, but also to creating events to raise as much money as they can for the animals. These animals
depend on LCAR's ability to underwrite all costs associated with rescuing, caring and future adoptions for our four-footed friends. Over the past three years LCAR has saved thousands of animals and placed them in loving homes.
The Rock For Rescue event brought out local supporters for a fantastic evening of tasty treats provided by the always gracious Tim Burke
of 230 Elm; refreshing cocktails and Vitamin Water; lots of nifty auction items donated by local shops and businesses; and a great night of music from the melodic vocal stylings of Laurenti, who covered a range from Adele to Stevie Nicks
, and the foot stomping rock and roll repertoire of Mahos and New Life Crisis with their take on classics from Elton John
to David Bowie
, and other 1970s hits, which kept the dance floor packed.
This was one rockin' night in the Hamptons, and everyone was light on their feet as they hit the dance floor knowing that along with having a great time they were helping a great organization.
Just some of the fabulous silent auction items - these were definitely in keeping with the evening's theme. (Eileen Casey)
