Southampton - On Saturday, February 11, the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation presented the "Puppy Love Prance" Valentine's Day benefit at the Southampton Inn, with live music and dance instruction by Dave Harvey & the Barn Burners, and what a hoedown was had!

With a lovely cocktail hour to launch the evening, guests decked out in their hoedown finest then proceeded to the welcoming dining room, decorated with balloons, tablecloths and kerchiefs as napkins which many drooped from their back pockets or tied around their necks.

Straw hats, Western attire, neck lanyards and cowboy boots galore hotfooted it to the buffet for a delicious meal of salad, Pasta Primavera, vegetables, chicken and cornbread, followed by Red Velvet cupakes to bulk up for the workout on the dance floor.

Harvey gave instructions and formed the groups of dancers and they were off, with a dosey doo, in and out and parading about - this gang of guests came to have fun and they sure as tootin' did for a terrific evening of square dancing.

The mission of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is simple: "To provide for the welfare of animals and reduce the number of homeless pets." The organization strives to save cats, dogs, puppies and kittens who are waiting for Forever Homes.

For nominal adoption fees, the Shelter confirms that "When you adopt a dog or cat from the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation you get an animal that has been evaluated by [our] nationally celebrated Behavior & Training Department, and medically evaluated by [our] world class medical team. All animals are sterilized prior to leaving the shelter, and when you adopt a dog or cat, in addition to a behavior and medical evaluation your new family member receives:"

 • Vaccinations
 • Heartworm Test and Heartworm preventative
 • Flea & Tick treatment
 • Micro-chip
 • Nemex - parasite preventative

At Saturday's benefit, guests had the opportunity to bid on a raffle, make donations, spread the word about this wonderful organization and all it endeavors, and to enjoy a fun-filled evening of dancing, mingling with old and new friends and to tip their hat to each other and show their support for countless animals the Shelter saves.
