Erwin Pearl was only 15 when he arrived from Austria, a boy alone seeking all the new world offered. He got a job in the diamond industry, rose to the top, and then, well who hasn't shopped Erwin Pearl's affordable versions of fine jewelry? Pearl went from designing the highest end diamond jewelry — such trinkets as Allan Ludden's engagement ring to Betty White — to fulfilling the destiny of his name. Pearls, affordable pearls, became the mainstay of an international company that today houses more than six hundred and fifty chain machines, as well as produces sterling silver and gold filled lines.

Their Rockefeller Center has always seemingly emitted a clarion call to shop that, seemingly, only women and tasteful men can hear. Lured by the promise of two goody bags, we were drawn there to The Pearl Party, to celebrate their new Yoto Yoto Collection of pearl jewelry and support The Animal Medical Center (AMC). Fifteen percent of purchases that night went to The AMC's Top Dog Gala, which will take place on Tuesday, December 8th. The Erwin Pearl Adorable Pooches line of hand painted enamel necklaces, bracelets, cuff links, pins and charms helped set the tone.

Community outreach is part of the Pearl tradition. They create six new lines of jewelry a year, often collaborating with different organizations. The first celebrated Grand Central Station's 100th anniversary, with a line inspired by the iconic clock and domed ceiling's constellation of stars. For the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, there was one caveat. They opened their archives, but the art work and colors had to be reproduced exactly. Pearl recreated the inimitable brush strokes on their scarves. On Friday, November 13th, the New York Botanical Gardens will debut a collection based on the colors of the garden.

This night, Founder Erwin Pearl and President Sandra Pearl greeted guests who included: Christine and Emma Bass, Lisa Bernstein, Sophia Bishop, Malinda Boothe, Carmine Cassino, Conlyn Chan, Daniel Colon, Meredith Counts, Susie Eldred, Nicole DiCocco, Kathleen Giordano, Martha Glass, Penny Grant, Guy Harley, Elysze Held, Melanie Seymour Holland, David Holland, Karen and Mel Kalmenson, Melissa Kassis, Lillian Kreppel, Lauren Lawrence, Valerie Lettan, Judith Lidsky, Kori Mallett, Alison Minton, Kori Mallett, Adele Nino, Linette and Matt Semino, Kimmie Smith, Amy Tarshis, Kimberly Thomsen, Michael Travin, Andrew Warner and Jordana Zizmor.

The AMC is a non-profit veterinary center that has been a national leader in animal care since 1910. It's there when you need it: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
