The Season's Here – Where Are You?

Ladies - learn golf.

If you are trying to meet someone special and interesting this summer check out these Insider Tips on where to go.

Coffee, Tea, or Me

The ritual of morning coffee is shared by everyone, and what could be better than meeting someone on a gorgeous summer morning sharing a fresh brew. It's also a great conversation starter as well. "Beautiful day, how are you planning on enjoying it?" Sant Ambroeus on Main Street in Southampton draws an international crowd for a coffee and fresh pastry or Pierre's on Main Street in Bridgehampton where you can have a café au lait and read Le Monde.

Or, how about getting a Cup of Joe in the land of Joe Millionaire? Sagaponack may have the most expensive zip code in the country but you can still afford a cup of coffee at the Sagg Main Deli housed in the same charming building as the post office with seats outside. Check out Tutto Il Giorno the new trattoria with its own espresso bar on Bay Street in Sag Harbor right across from some of the most expensive yachts dock on the East End.

Let's Get Physical

This is easy. Two words. For guys "learn yoga". For gals "learn golf". Yoga classes are filled with women who care about the body, mind, soul connection and men are welcome to join in the experience. I know guys feel awkward about learning yoga and looking silly. Just be sure to ask for classes which are "beginner" or "basic" or spring for private instruction to get up to speed.

Gents - learn yoga.

Golf is great way for singles to meet as well - all that time strolling around a course leaves lots of time to chat. Again, ladies, if you're not skilled with a 9-iron head out to the driving range and take a lesson. The public golf courses at Poxabogue in Sagaponack and Montauk Downs both have driving ranges and instruction available. Ladies can take a beginners clinic on Saturdays starting May 19th through August at Montauk Downs 631-668-1100.

Save The Date to Find a Date

Benefits are a great way to meet new people and at the same time support various good causes. Think about not only writing a check but volunteering and getting involved to make a difference. Here are a few suggestions.

Group for the East End
Long before "green" was the buzzword of consumer consciousness, the Group for the East End (formerly the Group for the South Fork) began dedicating time and resources to preserve the natural environment of the Hamptons. They're celebrating their 35th anniversary with a gala on Saturday June 16th at Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack to raise money for their expanded operation.

Nicole Miller and friends at the Group for the South Fork gala.

The evening will include cocktails, "green games," a silent auction, dinner, a live auction conducted by James G. Niven of Sotheby's, and dancing with the Bruce Saunders Orchestra. Co-Chairs of the event include Nicole Miller and Kim Taipale as well as Anne Hearst McInerney and Jay McInerney. The guest list reads like a who's who of media, fashion, and design. If you can't make the event be sure to sign up for one of their nature hikes, another place to meet enviro-friendly people. Tickets start at $450 and can be purchased through Event Associates 212 245-6560 x16, www.groupforthesouthfork.org.

Love Heals
Love Heals at Luna Farm in Sagaponack, to be held this year on Saturday June 23rd, is not only the see and be seen event for the young, sophisticated set of the Hamptons but an opportunity to raise funds for The Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education. Co-founder Stephanie Greenfield describes the night as a feel good event for an important cause as well as a great mixer to meet people. "We're like our own e-harmony," she says.

The organization's dedication was proven last year when even though they were rained out, the Executive Director Jasmine Nielsen was there in a slicker passing out goody bags and BBQ to anyone who showed up. This year's theme is "Vegas, Baby, Vegas" and will include cocktails, a barbecue, and dancing. Greenfield, co-owner of Scoop, and other committee members' connections to the fashion world also produce a silent auction not to be missed. Tickets ($200 in advance and $250 at the door plus special VIP tables) are available through Harrison & Shriftman at 917-351-8670 and more info at www.loveheals.org.

Kathy and Rick Hilton at the Parrish Art Museum Midsummer Party.

"After 10" Party at the Parrish
The annual Midsummer Party at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, this year honoring Trudy C. Kramer for 26 years of service as the Museum's Director, will be held on Saturday July 14. While you can attend the sit down dinner at $1000 you also have the option of going to the "After 10" party with drinks, dessert, and dancing for $150 or $175 after June 24th. This event draws sophisticated singles from as far as Europe to hob nob under the big top tent. Meet someone new and make a date to come back to check out the various programs, exhibits, and lectures offered by the museum, a valuable local asset. You can call to purchase tickets at 631-283-2118 x33 www.parrishart.org.

James Beard Chefs and Champagne

Taste the cuisine of an array of chefs as well as sip Charles Heidsieck Champagne and the wines of Wolffer Estate Vineyard (they even bring out their high end rare vintages). You can also bid on a silent auction. This event which is from 5 to 8pm is a great post-beach or pre-dinner way to mingle where everyone travels from booth to booth to compare notes on who has the tastiest morsels.
