Sag Harbor - Judy Carmichael, internationally acclaimed Grammy Award-nominated pianist, has just released her latest C.D., "Come and Get It." Carmichael's East End C.D. release party was held on Thursday, April 9, at the Bay Street Theatre, where toes were tapping and heads were bobbing.
Carmichael played solo in Sag Harbor, but when on the road she travels with her band, playing most everywhere from Carnegie Hall to Venice, having performed with the likes of Michael Feinstein, Steve Ross and Joel Grey. A list of private recitals for Rod Stewart, Bill Clinton and Gianni Agnelli grace her resume. The New York Times raves about her, calling her "astounding, flawless and captivating." She is a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion."

"Come and Get It" is Carmichael's first vocals release. The Sag Harbor resident charmed her Bay Street audience with tales of an adventure - or misadventure, if you will - that explains how she came to release a vocal C.D. She was performing with Steve Ross when he forgot the lyrics, so Carmichael jumped right in and sang the tune. Because of her fine singing voice, she was encouraged afterwards to perform vocals so she took the bull by the horns, recording "Come and Get It." With a big band swing style, it features everything from Peggy Lee-inspired standards to humorous takes on Fats Waller tunes, including renditions of "Deed I Do," "You're Drivin' Me Crazy," "Gee Baby."
Carmichael's public radio show, Jazz Inspired, is broadcast on over 170 stations throughout North America and worldwide, via XM and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 134. Upcoming C.D. release parties are set for London, Switzerland and Australia while her New York debut of the new release features an exclusive concert at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Monday, April 13.
This C.D. marks her debut as a vocalist and will be available on iTunes, Amazon.com, and JudyCarmichael.com.
