Lots going on all over the Hamptons this week. Welcome back Hil. Congrats to Mariah and Nick. Sad Splitsville news. Big donations and name changes. Three cheers for Diane. Happy 30th to Betsey and Chantal. Good luck to Beth. Celeb sightings.
Jobs Lane in Southampton seems to be getting more and more fabulous with each passing week. Not so welcome are the daily updates on one of the East End's most acrimonious splits. Watch for sparks on the second season of a fave Bravo hit. And so much more...
Two great musical Hampton residents, Paul McCartney and Billy Joel, made a little rock history when the former Beatle took the stage at the end of Joel's second and last Shea Stadium show.
We're edging close to the halfway mark of summer and the parties and the gossip roll on feverishly with divorce the hot topic of conversation. As they stay in TV land, stay tuned, the action's just getting started.
It took a week before the hottest summer kick-off party reached the ears of the press but sweet readers I was there when all the other press were nixed and now I can tell you what really went on in the Hamptons most famed castle.
It's not all parties, premieres and pricey galas for the Hamptons glitterati. They didn't get those oceanfront estates and fancy gardens whiling away the day at the beach, you know. They work at it 24/7 - and sometimes they walk away to start something new. Not that I have anything against great parties especially those tossed by my friends for great causes.
Lots of dish on the food circuit this week from luxe dining to fast noshes - some downright silly and some worth sending up a cheer.
You would have had to have been under a rock this weekend if you hadn't heard about 'The Great Wine Bust' in East Hampton this weekend. Everybody has had an opinion about that one. 1 comment
Don't be surprised if you see a lot of bronzed faces around town this weekend. A host of East Enders caught a few rays in between the parties and premieres in sunny Cannes at the film fest this week. And better keep your eyes open - the stars are coming to town!
The Big Weekend is coming! We've got the dish on the hottest spots for Summer 2008. News and juicy tid-bits for some big money movers and shakers too.
With Memorial Day right around the corner, I've been getting lots of tips about new entries on the dining, nightlife, and shopping scene (yeah!) - and all very welcome additions I might add. 1 comment
Brooke plans some Hamptons time. Those "Sex and the City" girls have sure kept busy over the last year with the ultra secure shooting on the film version of the white hot series. Montauk's Paul Simon rocked the house at the Brooklyn Academy of Music gala.
It looks like it will be "lights, camera, action!" all over Southampton in the coming weeks thanks to director Mike Nichols. We also have buzz on Jackie Rogers, Sarah Jessica Parker, the Fred & Adele Astaire Awards and the Actors Fund Awards, Simon Doonan, big bucks guys Steve Schwarzman and Leonard A. Lauder, the McFadden's, and fashionable news from our own Diane Von Furstenberg.
It's not too early to start your summer calendar, but I'm not confirming anything until I get an invite to a Gin Lane block party. Now that I know Tiger Woods and his lovely wife, Elin, are moving to the Hamptons, after shelling out $65 million for a six-acre, gated estate, very chic ocean side home from Austrian-born businessman Gerhard Andlinger, this girl is keeping her options open.
Coming back to the East End this weekend I picked up lots of good dish. Southampton producer Patricia Watt has an early Father's Day present for her dad. We'll be seeing a lot more of another well-known New York gent this summer, Rudy Giuliani. And the Generous People of the Week Awards go out to East Hampton's Ronald Perelman and Marilyn and Jim Simons.
What a difference a week makes! Suddenly the Main Streets and off-shoot lanes are abuzz and those mournful "See You in March" signs will soon be coming down. All over our local nabe in Southampton there has been a burst of activity. 2 comments
Don't believe anyone who tells you the Hamptons are quiet in the winter months. It's just the opposite with the Type-A personalities who people the East End. Big mansions are going up on the block and just as quickly being snapped up - at astronomical prices, books are being touted, scoops are being gobbled up by world-class journos, fabulous fetes are being planned, and as always there's a scandal or two.
This week we say a fond farewell to beloved actor, neighbor, and friend Roy Scheider. Then, switching gears with dramatic flair, we have dish from the tents and runways at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
You know that winter vacation fun abroad is over when you start seeing the Gstaad skiers and formerly St. Barth's bound lovelies tanned faces back on our village streets. One can just sip so many Mojitos and hot toddies, I guess. Clearly, everyone got a good rest for my phone has been buzzing with news of openings, galas, hot dance parties, premieres, and big projects in the works.
Hamptonites, and indeed the entire country, will get a sneak peek this week at Bravo TV's latest spin off "The Real Housewives of New York City" which might be more accurately titled the Real Housewives of the Hamptons, as all the ladies profiled are regular fixtures on the social and business scene out here. 2 comments
