Southampton - Good news for all you "Project Runway" starved viewers, the battle between two of the East End's most powerful media moguls is finally over. NBC Uni's
Jeff Zucker and
Harvey Weinstein are friends again - for the moment. Now at least the hosts at Nick & Toni's won't flinch when they have to seat the two players across the room when they show up on Saturday nights.
NBC Universal has settled its lawsuit against the Weinstein Co. over the move of Bravo's signature series to Lifetime.
The Hollywood Reporter, the show biz Bible (what the
Wall Street Journal is to money managers) broke the news that NBC Uni will apparently receive millions in the settlement, which also calls for Lifetime to delay the launch of the long-awaited sixth season of "Project Runway" to mid-August. This will allow NBC Uni's Bravo a chance to launch their own similar vehicle, "The Fashion Show," in a clear field for a few months. Within hours of the settlement, Bravo announced that "The Fashion Show" will debut May 7. The show is expected to wrap however before "Project Runway" hits the air on Lifetime.
The settlement puts an end to a year-long court battle - largely fought in the gossip columns - between NBC Uni and the Weinstein Co. which began when Harvey announced last April that "Project Runway" would move to Lifetime
The new deal seems like a win-win proposition for all involved. Lifetime will finally get to air the delayed new season of "Project Runway" (Yeah!). The Weinstein Co. will pick up most of its original $150 million from Lifetime, which includes five years of "Project Runway," a spin-off "Models of the Runway," a new series "Project Pygmalion" as well as a package of Weinstein Co. movies. NBC gets to break its own show without any competition for a while before "Project Runway" returns in August. See what happens when grownups talk to each other.

No one is happier than Hamptonite PR and marketing guru
Desiree Gruber. It was to Gruber, who has masterminded media for
Heidi Klum,
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Victoria's Secret, that Harvey first brought the project in 2004. Since then, Desiree, Heidi and Harvey have served as co-executive producers. Desiree is reportedly thrilled that the situation has been resolved. Now she and hubby actor
Kyle McLachlan can start planning their summer in the Hamptons.
Expect some royal sightings this summer especially in Amagansett, as it appears that his Royalness
Sir Paul McCartney and his new lady fair
Nancy Shevell have taken their relationship public. Sir Paul took Nancy to the National Resource Defense Council awards where they honored his little girl
Stella McCartney. He and the MTA board member Shevell have also popped up at several other high profile events in recent weeks and not without comment as many feel she should be paying less attention to the former Beatle and more on the transportation crisis facing the state. Now the papers are abuzz with talk about his expanding his Amagansett compound with a new building. In any event, it will be nice to see Paul out on his boat again and maybe there might be a jam session or two. He could invite
Dan Bailey and
Jay Schneiderman over for a set.
Those East End snowbirds who annually migrate to the sun and surf of Palm Beach and points south, wound up the "season" in true Palm Beach style with
Michele Herbert's fantastic, over-the-top, three day long birthday salute to her husband
Lawrence - at where else but The Breakers. Lawrence is better known as Larry to his friends - none of whom could believe the energetic, always on the go Pantone Color founder was 80 years old! Not a day over 60 said more than one tanned and toned lady about the man who created the color wheel used by everyone from car manufacturers to fashion designers. The marvelous event was tended by
Harriette Rose Katz of Sagaponack and her staff at Gourmet Advisory who took care of everything for the weekend!

On Friday night, the gorgeous Michele hosted a welcome cocktail party as so many more guests had flown in from across the country to toast Larry. Saturday was the big blowout, the party of the year in the massive ballroom of the historic hotel. Michele, who knows a little bit about color herself, transformed the staid coffered ceilinged hall into a veritable color wheel. Centerpieces were laced with yellow orchids, sliced oranges trimmed antique crystal chandeliers and the table coverings and napkins were all satin in shades from turquoise blue to sunset gold.
Cocktails ran for over two hours followed by a sumptuous dinner and then dancing. Michele and Larry love to dance and are always the first to hit the floor.
This year Michele surprised Larry and the guests by bringing in the professionals from "Dancing with the Stars." Ducking out of the room, she slipped out of her beaded silver blue evening gown into a parrot green short thigh revealing number to hit the floor with "Stars" dancer
Alec Mazo. Hubby Larry followed her onto the dance floor with the sultry
Edyta Sliwinska ; the two couples tore it up with a sexy, sultry Tango complete with dips. The crowd went wild! Giving the couples "10" ratings were scores of fellow Southamptonites:
Jonathan and
Somers Farkas,
Caroline Hirsch and
Andrew Fox,
Michael Cominotto and
Dennis Basso with a bejeweled
Ivana Trump,
Denise Rich, resplendent in fuchsia ruffled satin and huge rubies,
Paola and
Arnie Rosenshein,
Hilary and
Wilbur Ross,
Frederick and
Douglas Hannant,
Lucia Hwong Gordon and
Peter Gordon,
Donna and
Dick Soloway, producer and Saracen's owner
Michael Tadross,
John and
Andrea Stark wearing a gorgeous off the shoulder red number,
Lauren Day and fiancé
Bob Roberts,
Audrey and
Martin Gruss,
Ann Dexter Jones,
Jeffrey and
Linda Chodorow,
Carol Mack,
Mai Hallingby Harrison,
R. Couri Hay, and the always divinely dressed
Anka Palitz in shimmering purple tones.
Following the cutting of the enormous four foot multi-colored cake, Michele slipped off once again for another evening gown change! The Starlight Orchestra kept the crowd swirling around the room with their mix of society swing and pop tunes. Then the electric
Patti LaBelle hit the stage wearing an origami like mini of hammered silver and proceeded to raise the four story ceiling about two floors higher to whoops and whistles from the normally restrained crowd. Denise Rich was especially enthusiastic as she and Patti have partnered on several recording projects including the soundtrack to the outrageous film "To Wong Foo, With Love Julie Newmar." Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Denise had arranged for Patti to wail for Larry as a special gift. I'm told that the after party went until 4 a.m. and still everybody turned up for a goodbye brunch at 11 a.m. the next morning. Oh, those kids!

New to the East End since buying a lovely manse in Quogue,
Michael J. Fox hasn't had much time to enjoy it with his wife, actress
Tracey Pollan and their kids. Since
President Obama lifted the restrictions on stem cell research, he has stepped up his advocacy work in hopes for a cure for Parkinson's disease. In addition, he's been on the road and making the talk show rounds to promote his amazingly uplifting new book aptly titled, "Always Looking Up, The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist." Michael has refused to let his Parkinson's define him even in the most difficult of times. In his one on one with
Oprah Winfrey, he very succinctly summed it up. "I'm a dad, I'm a husband, I'm an activist, I'm a writer and I'm just a student of the world," he says. "This is one fact of my life, but it's not the totality of my life. It doesn't define me."
Speaking of Quogue, I hear that there will be an Oh-so exclusive private screening of Quogue filmmaker
Mike Sucsy's "Grey Gardens" with
Jessica Lange and
Drew Barrymore as the eccentric
Edith Bouvier Beale and
Edie Beale - or "Big Edie" and "Little Edie" to the cognoscenti. Word is
Ben Bradlee and his wife
Sally Quinn owners of the fabled property who restored the house and its grounds to its former glory will host the screening at yet another fabled estate, Goose Creek, where there is an enormous screening room. My spies tell me that the screening will be followed by a dinner at Grey Gardens hosted by its long-term rental tenant - animal rights activist and philanthropist
Frances Hayward.
Next week Tony award winning actress
Tovah Feldshuh, East Hampton philanthropist
Patti Kenner and East End writer
Debbie Tuma will be among the honored guests of
Consul General Krzysztof W. Kasprzyk of the Republic of Poland at the renaming of the corner of Madison and 37th Street to honor Polish emissary
Jan Karski who brought the first word of the Holocaust to
Churchill and
Roosevelt and was not believed. The late professor of Political Science at Georgetown will be honored all weekend long at special seminars and lectures focusing on the role of the Polish hero of the Holocaust. The guests will also include several of the Righteous Among Nations as well as several Children of Holocaust survivors. Feldshuh is currently portraying one of these "Righteous"
Irena Opdyke Stendler in the hit Broadway play "Irena's Vow," and Debbie Tuma's grandfather's second wife was Irena.

Soon to be on the East End is entrepreneurial mastermind
Stratis Morfogen, CEO of Philippe Restaurant Group, one of the country's fastest evolving restaurateurs. Morfogen's lucky fortune cookie came when he partnered with chef
Phillipe Chow of Mr. Chow fame. Since opening the first Philippe Restaurant the chic contemporary Chinese restaurant in December 2005, Morfogen has built a diverse empire with restaurants all over the country. Philippe Restaurant Group, led by Morfogen, redefines the Chinese dining experience by combining fine dining with a contemporary vibe, presenting the celebrated Chinese cuisine of culinary master Philippe Chow veteran of Mr. Chow for more than 27 years. Now I hear he will be taking over the hot space on Three Mile Harbor Road where
Jeffrey Chodorow opened the East End outpost of his mega popular Kobe Beach Club. Get out the chopsticks!!
Further East, The Surf Lodge is ramping up to present a full roster of surf and skate-centric live music performances, film screenings, and more, all summer long. Celebs such as
Billy and
Katie Lee Joel,
Tyson Beckford and
Harvey Keitel made the late-night scene, and
Julian Marley has been one of the featured musical acts. Expect this casual beachfront nitery with its low-key, flip-flop atmosphere to be a hot spot again this summer. Besides there is always
Chef Sam Talbot with his rock star looks to keep the girls coming even if his Top Chef outing was a bust.
Also coming back full throttle - although unlike the other clubs they remained open all year - is Regulars Music Café which has been packing them in consistently all winter with its live music every night philosophy. Seems proprietors
David Saia and
Kate and
John Maguire who also owns Beach radio WEHM and WBAZ made the right decision to keep the doors open even in sub-freezing weather. Throughout the last months their Friday Supper Club featuring acts like
Winston Irie and
Prentiss McNeill of The Drifters have filled the seats with swaying along diners. Their talent night in conjunction with WEHM radio has also been a winner and become quite surprisingly a scouting ground for emerging talents. The Café's popular Kids Karaoke has already helped launch one national success - 11 year old Sag Harbor student
Dylan Collins who sang at President Obama's Inauguration Ball. They are already getting a sizable portion of the family groups and it looks as if they're poised to pick up the early night club crowd who'll meet up at the casual spot, carb load and head off to Stereo or Resort.
Over at our fave Southampton hangout 75 Main the conversation has all focused on former proprietor
Tim Burke's departure - resignation or dismissal - depending upon with whom one is speaking. All I can tell you now is that Tim has promised he will be setting up shop somewhere else in the Village of Southampton and will continue to offer the same caring and generous hospitality that have become 75 Main's hallmarks in his tenure.
The big question for many is whether we will see Pink Elephant, Lily Pond or Dune back this summer. We'll keep you posted.
