Summer may be fading but one thing's for sure in the Hamptons, love and big deals are definitely in the air!

At the Social @ Ross Tom Petty concert, bodyguards flanking Sir
Paul McCartney and his seatmate, Oscar winning actress Renee Zellweger, made no pretense about protecting Sir P's privacy shooing photographers and reporters away like so many flies at a 4th of July picnic. Buzz was Miss
Christie Brinkley was one of several gals in attendance who were a little miffed with Sir P's attention to Renee.
Now, my spies tell me the couple enjoyed a candlelit dinner at the very quiet Sen in Sag Harbor over this weekend. However, we hear they were not alone. Saturday Night Live producer
Lorne Michaels was reportedly the extra beard –uh- guest with them. Sir Paul and Rene talked quietly during their two hour meal then hugged each other at the end of the night. Folks say they left separately but who knows where they might have reconnected Within the Hedges!
Renee, who'll soon turn 40, is reportedly anxious to start a family and we all know that Sir Paul still has the beans but maybe isn't ready to add to his brood at this point.
As you might remember Renee's 2005 marriage to singer Kenny Chesney lasted a laughable 128 days with her trying to have the marriage annulled on the bizarre grounds of his alleged "fraud". The doomed wedding came within weeks of the break-up of her tortuous two-year relationship with Jack White, the lead singer of the White Stripes.
I adore Renee and just love Sir Paul but truly I don't see this going anywhere come fall except maybe south like the snowbirds.
While Paul and Renee were canoodling on the East End, Miss Kimora Lee Simmons was taking care of business big time! Just one day after her estranged husband
Russell Simmons tendered his resignation from Phat Fashions to pursue other interests Kellwood Company, owner of the gazillion dollar label, named Miss Kimora as Creative Director of the brand.
She'll now have creative oversight of all Phat Fashions - that means men's, women's, and children's sportswear, accessories, footwear, home products and loungewear as well as the over 30+ national and international licenses for Phat.
All that from a tiny little Baby Phat t-shirt less then 10 years ago! But folks who knew Kimora back in her Paris days always saw her as a shrewd – in the best sense - operator with a real head for business on those fabulous shoulders. No surprise to me - I just love Miss K's "take charge, make it happen, and make it fun" verve!
I am so looking forward to staying home with a pint of gelato from Cittarella so that I can get caught up on the tube before Fashion Week swoops into Bryant Park. I'll have to Tivo a few things since two of my utmost fave fellas are taking to the air waves with their own shows this season, Project Runway head guru Tim Gunn and the hunky Doug Wilson of Trading Spaces.
Tim kicks off his new Bravo series Tim Gunn's Guide to Style this week. On the show Tim will tackle each week a new, style challenged victim – uh - woman, tear apart her closets and unleash her inner fashionista in a matter of an hour. Okay so that's TV time and it probably takes him a day but what the hey! His fashion police deputy, the sultry super style savvy Veronica Webb, no shrinking violet she, will undoubtedly be going head to head with Tim in the acerbic fashion barbs arena. Who says there's no life after Project Runway! Tim's got a brand new platform and was appointed Chief Creative Officer for Liz Claiborne a few months back. Not bad for a former college professor.
I used to love hanging out in a hot little New York club called the King Kong Room where all the Broadway babies and major divas would turn up for Jim Caruso's Cast party nights and I mean all - Liza, Chita,
Michael Feinstein, Alan Cumming - you get the picture. Everyone would take a turn on the stage to the thrill of the late night revelers. One night a cute guy popped up to sing a demented tune about a crazed interior designer and I was smitten. The crooner with a great voice by the way was Doug Wilson!
Now after becoming the make over king domestically, Doug will host the new TLC series Real Estate Road Test, what that means I'm not sure, but if he wants to cruise around the estate section for locations, I'm available.
And if all this reality show stuff is too much for you to comprehend know that the team behind the wildly popular The Real Housewives of O.C. are taking their spin to the Hamptons trailing a handful of gals on the go and ladies in the know for a new series.
Last week, they turned
75 Main Street into a veritable soundstage as they tracked several of the ladies on their daily rounds of tennis and shopping the luxe boutiques of Jobs Lane and Main Street. I've learned who two of the first round of "Housewives" are and they are definitely not the Donna Reed type nor are they the type to be easily lampooned, Countess LuAnne de Lesseps and
Jill Zarin. Both are gals I know from the charity scene as hardworking, generous to a fault human beings. It will be really interesting to see how this all pans out.
High moment of my week watching Bruce Springsteen's reaction when his 15 year old daughter walked away with top honors this week at the Hampton Classic! Talk about proud papas!
