Talk Around Town

Rolanda Watts

Polo's just been over for a month and already we're having Nacho cravings and we don't mean Mexican food – we're talking about that gorgeous Argentinean Nacho Figueras who made up for all the mindless prattle, sleazy come-ons and cheesy social networking we had to endure in our quest for real glamour and hot dish in the tents at each week just for you dear readers.

Now sad to say Nacho, his beautiful senora Delfina and their little cuties are off to Wellington, Florida having given up their Sag Harbor summer rental. At least we have our copy of Show Circuit Magazine's summer issue with Nacho on the cover as a keepsake. Sigh!

If you're as sick as we are of all the hot air from the likes of Rush Limbaugh and company and live for those few morning hours when Bonnie Grice talks art and culture on WLIU each AM, you'll be just tickled to learn that we gals now have a radio network of our own.

Thanks to Gloria Steinem, Jane Fonda, former NCB anchor Carol Jenkins and a group of their media powerhouse gal pals, Greenstone Media the first all women's radio network has just been launched featuring some of the funniest and smartest ladies on the airwaves.

Mo Gaffney and Shana Wride pair up for 'Women Aloud' offering their hilarious takes on topics like one might stands on their Daily Rant. Author Lisa Birnbach famed for poking fun at the preppy lifestyle also holds court as do "The Radio Ritas" – don't ask why they're called that, but the trio is comprised of three very witty gals Maureen Langan, Cory Kahaney, and Nelsie Spencer.

But we're look forward to the debut of our old BFF and former Hampton's playmate Rolonda Watts this week. Rolonda just spent some R&R at Southampton's 1708 House before beginning her new afternoon radio show. Ever since she packed up her designer duds and massive shoe collections and decamped with her Vuitton trunks to LA, we have missed her sassy, smart banter. But we're proud that our sistah has scored so well in Tinseltown portraying legends Dorothy Dandridge and Josephine Baker on film, guest starring on a string of TV shows and now with a national platform to let us know what's on her mind. You can expect some REAL honest talk from Ro.

If you think Fashion week was all about socialites, Hollywood starlets and rap royalty you obviously overlooked Maria Cornejo's show. Long a favorite of the art set in which she travels, Cornegos quirky show pulled in such art world faves as Cindy Sherman, Thelma Golden, and Anna Gaskell. Clearly a designer for the thinking woman.

Coveting your neighbors goods is a sin says the Good Book but we must confess to just a wee bit of " bag envy" when we see Reese Whitherspoon toting that to die for Kooba or Sarah Jessica Parker parading with the perfect Prada that should be ours. Well we just learned that those two plus a gaggle of Hollywood A-listers including poptart Hillary Duff, Selma Blair, Jessica Biel, Mena Suvari, and newleywed Avril Lavigne are donating their gently used bags for a special e-bay auction to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. So here's my chance to assuage my guilt, snag a great purse and do something good. Win! Win! Win!
