Spring Has Arrived And Everyone Is On The Move!

Tory Burch. (PatrickMcMullan.com)

SouthamptonTory Burch is continuing to be an aggressive on-going news story in the design arena. She has been developing a who's who for her board of directors, and as of last week former Gucci & Yves Saint Laurent Exec Mark Lee has now joined, and Glen Senk, former CEO of Urban Outfitters, is also on the board. With Senk and Lee on the Burch Board it would seem that Tory continues to move forward most aggressively in the fashion market. Its certainly not just about ballet flats anymore!

Last week Burch with Diane Von Furstenberg, and chief executive of Theory Andrew Rosen presented Bill Clinton with a $1 million donation check for Haiti. The money comes from sales of the Council of Fashion Designers of America's "Fashion for Haiti" tee-shirt, which was launched on February 16. This was given to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund which has been raising great sums of money to help the continued struggles there.

Beth Ostrosky and Howard Stern were seen shopping Southampton's Main Street on a warm sunny Tuesday, such a nice couple, whom really have such a nice demeanor between them. And out and about on a Tuesday, that's certainly a pre season outing!

Diane Von Furstenberg.

The East Hampton fashion designer Elie Tahari celebrated his Spring 2010 line at Bergdorf Goodman with a party thrown by Joe Zee of Elle Magazine and Linda Fargo, Vice President of Bergdorf Goodman last week. The party was so heavily attended by the cast of "The City" that it was almost a cast party! Tahari, Emmy Rossum, Jim Gold, Samantha Swetra, Whitney Port, and Joe Zee were some of the good looking faces in the crowd. Tahari and his wife Rory are quietly selling $70 million dollars worth of their real estate portfolio. Rumors are quietly circulating that the famous couple may be on the rocks after 10 years of marriage. Up for sale is the entire 51st floor of the place on Central Park West and the Tahari Penthouse on Fifth Avenue, as well as their 9,600 square foot loft in SoHo, two houses in the Hamptons, one in Amagansett and another in Sagaponack, and that's just some of what's been quietly been put up for sale. God help East Hampton, with its multitude of empty storefronts, if the rumors are true and the Tahari building at the corner of Newtown Lane and Main Street also joins the sale.

Very civic minded and community spirited Alec Baldwin, whom is a Nassau County native, has recently purchased the Massapequa Library Bookmobile. The 48 year old Bookmobile broke down last year and was headed to the scrap yard. Baldwin purchased it for $1,000 from the library system and has had it towed to his East Hampton home. It is said that he may now use it for his home office. When purchased in the 1960s the Bookmobile was $13,000 which today would be $200,000. The very interesting Baldwin is always up to something and popping up everywhere. I'm interested to see what indeed happens to the old Bookmobile! It could have an exciting future Baldwin has yet to tell us about!

Tiki Barber.

Amagansett's Sarah Jessica Parker has been laying some groundwork to get the juices flowing for the upcoming "Sex and the City 2" film. She recently told MTV: "This time around, Carrie has been married for a couple of years. She is about to publish her fourth book. She is content." Hmm, but it would not be Carrie if she did not have some struggles to face so we all can laugh and learn from them!

Surf Lodge is reopening Saturday, May 22. They have invested in the creation of a bandshell to keep the noise levels under control and to respect their neighbors. Montauk has re-issued their outdoor music permit for another season, and reps are also working to alleviate their now famous parking problem. Surf Lodge, in my opinion, is such a groovy, chic and just pure Hamptons venue. Operated by Jayma Cardosa and Jaime Mulholland who brought us Cain Southampton and Cain NYC. Any project they seem to launch is always a first rate consistent experience. Always trendy, always fun, and always a sexy hot crowd. So worth driving out to Montauk for. I plan on staying a weekend at one of the highly coveted rooms in their hotel portion, to truly be able to enjoy all this dynamic location has to offer.

Michael Lohan.

Also changing in Montauk is the old Crows Nest, the well known nightlife guru Sean MacPherson has purchased the old restaurant and its adjacent 14 room hotel space. This very charming and old space is ripe and practicly crying out for a re-invention. It is said it will be run for this season in its present form and the remodeled, redecorated and totally revamped space will be on view next season. MacPherson's projects are all well known successes, and is frequently mentioned in the same vein as Andre Balazs, Ian Schrager and Jason Pomeranc. He is well known for bringing fab Hotel/Clubs to life. Fabulous projects like The Park, Maritime Hotel, Bowery Hotel, and the new very hip Jane Hotel. I'm not sure a better match could be made then someone with this expertise taking on a project like Crows Nest which is so ready for the next chapter its in long successful life.

Heading west and onto New York – The latest on scandal plagued Tiki Barber, whom as you all know recently dumped his wife of 11 years, Ginny, whom is eight months pregnant with twins, for the 23-year-old Traci Johnson, is that he has dropped out of the upcoming Run for the Wild fundraiser for The Bronx Zoo. Tiki was the headliner of last year's event. A released statement said that with the current media frenzy of bad publicity surrounding him would detract from the event. The Wildlife Conservation Society's five-kilometer run/walk this Saturday is a benefit for the endangered tigers. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. and is going ahead as scheduled.

The scandal has been swirling for weeks and badly damaging Tiki's public image. A released statement from the Barbers calls their split "painful but amicable." Barber has been getting negative publicity here and there since his 2006 retirement from the Giants after making negative remarks about Eli Manning who then led the Giants to a Super Bowl. Barber is currently appearing on "The Today Show" but has lost his job on NBC's Sunday Night Football Telecast. After last season NBC passed on renewing his contract. In his 2007 memoir, "Tiki: My Life in the Game and Beyond," he described the example he wanted to set for his kids as "I want to be an honorable man, because that's what I want them both to be," noting, "My family is everything to me." Well not sure how all that's working out at this current point?

Hamptons regular Michael Lohan became engaged last week to Kate Major, ex-girlfriend of pal Jon Gosselin and former assistant to daughter Lindsay Lohan. Ex-wife Dina Lohan had the following to say on the subject "Where's he finding money for engagement rings and weddings I don't know - he's nine months behind in his child support. I wish him the best but pay for the kids you already have." While Major, 27, is currently not expecting, she and Michael, who turns 50 on April 25, plan to have children sooner rather than later. The couple will wed later this year at Oheka Castle. Lohan, who is 49, was recently rushed to St. Francis hospital in Roslyn, NY for a mild heart attack which he blamed his high stress level over due to his recent court case with ex-fiancée Erin Mueller when he claims she tried to kick him in the head with a shoe and violated a restraining order. Classy!

Please, please do not include anyone with the last name of Lohan in your e-publication. I give you credit for having more class.
