Talk Around Town

Off the market: heiress Angelina Anisimova said yes to beau Ryan Freedman when he popped the big question this weekend.

Big money Yankee Centerfielder Johnny Damon with his lovely expectant wife graciously signed autographs for fans throughout lunch on the patio at The Drivers Seat in Southampton. The former Boston Red Sox player talked with bartender Mick and spent a half hour recounting how the then underdog team finally broke the curse of Babe Ruth.

At the House & Garden Hampton Designer Showhouse so packed with interior designers and decorators that if a bomb dropped, half of New York and East End houses would lose the chance for that fancy spread in Architectural Digest. Conspicuous no show was architect and Showhouse designer, Peter Cook. His reputed affair with his nineteen year old assistant, stepdaughter of a Southampton village cop had the crowd atwitter. Earlier that day, columnist R. Couri Hay hinted in an interview for our "Main Street Series" that "the high heel would soon drop" and drop it did with an explosion heard all the way to L.A. Word is uptown girl Christie Brinkley has gone way outta town to avoid the press. Quelle Scandale!! Son Jack even missed his last game of the season.

With my passion for fashion and obsession with flirty shoes, I Spy was thrilled to run into vivacious cover girl Cindy Guyer and hubby builder Andrew Catapano in front of Saks Fifth Avenue in Southampton. Cindy, who has graced the covers of over 1,200 bodice ripper and heaving bosom novels, will be launching her own shoe line this fall. Why didn't I think of that!

No sooner did artist Kevin Berlin light down in Southampton for his annual show at RVS Gallery (Slave of Fashion-a smashing success) and he's off to Kiev, where the sun shines 20 hours a day this time of year for a two month sojourn before heading back to his studio in Florence. The Italophile Berlin spent the better part of the afternoon saying Ciao to friends at Sant Ambroeus.

Director Mike Suscy, who tapped Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore for his upcoming film, "Grey Gardens" with producer Rachel Horovitz is scouting locations around East Hampton.

This just in, Diane Von Furstenberg has been elected the new president of CFDA Council of Fashion Designers of America replacing "man about the Hamptons" Stan Herman who is retiring to focus on his design ventures. DVF beat out contender Joseph Abboud. Hot on the scene designer Francisco Costa was also elected to the board.

Water Mill's Samantha Cole, who is splashed all over front pages round the globe with the "Cook Bedded Me Too" story, clearly jumped on the gravy train the minute the story first broke about the Brinkley – Cook discord.

The singer sat for an "exclusive" interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Main Street Series Studio of Hamptons.com the other day.

Arriving with her mom and looking like she had just been plucked off the beach, the tousled blonde was tricked out in a mini mini blue terry cloth skirt, barely there tank top and flip flops. After posing for British photogs outside Hampton.com, she and her mom, both looking terribly upset and concerned, sat for the "exclusive" interview. She was clearly well-prepared producing love letters from Cook that were 10 years old and pre-Christie – a few more items to add to the blazing inferno that might consume Cook's career out East. The headlining-grabbing Cole was reportedly paid a five figure sum for the sit-down.
