Time For Teens To Hold 5K Walk/Run Event

Riverhead - Time for Teens had a successful bereavement camp for East End teens in August. This year there were 20 teens in attendance ranging in ages from 12 through 19, all who suffered the loss of a loved one.

The third annual bereavement camp was held once again at Timothy Hill Children's Ranch in Riverhead. To support this annual event, the first 5K walk/run will be held on October 17. This year, Time for Teens has added a monthly bereavement support group for the teens whom attended the camp either this year or in years prior. The additional support has also been extended to the Parents and/or Guardians of the teens for a retreat to be held at Timothy Hill's property in the Berkshires this October.

Another exciting event is planned for the fall, an acting/cabaret workshop for the teens, to have that creative outlet for their grieving process. This workshop will be held at Southampton Cultural Center and time for teens is thrilled to announce the donation of space by the Center for this workshop. This event will be held November 14 and November 15 with a performance on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

All of these programs are made possible by very generous members of the community, namely Mr. and Mrs. Rand Araskog. For the upcoming 5K, sponsors currently include TD Bank, IGHL, Timothy Hill Children's Ranch, MacLachlan & Eagan LLP.
