East Hampton - The summer season in the Hamptons always has as its highlight the artist's plate auction for
The Retreat, the East End's only domestic violence agency offering shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and violence prevention education. This year,
Kelsey and
Camille Grammer have agreed to host the evening, highlighting the increased awareness of domestic violence and the need for education and change that recent events with
Chris Brown and
Rihanna have set in place.
A cocktail party, dinner, silent auction, live auction and 'young person's after party' is a first for The Retreat. Honorees include
Louise and
Steve Bergerson, East Hampton Town Police Officer
Grace LaFemina and
Sergeant Nancie L. Byrne, Commanding Officer of the Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau, Suffolk County Police Department.

The Retreat has changed Executive Directors in the past year, bringing
Jeffrey Friedman to the lead role at The Retreat. His plans include expanding The Retreat's role in changing the direction of the acceptance of domestic violence as a party of America's culture. "One of our goals is to change and increase education about what seeds sow domestic violence, which is the future of defeating this epidemic that is tearing apart our country's young women and families. Funds raised by our expanded event will go toward advancing the services we provide to our local constituency. We are thrilled the Grammers have agreed to join us in this important mission."
