East Hampton - The Ross School's First Annual Pro Am Tennis Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 27, (with a rain date on Sunday, June 28) from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the school's new Tennis Center located on its East Hampton campus.
Hosted by
Jim Grabb, twice ranked the world's number one doubles player and two-time singles All-American, this exciting new tradition will feature celebrity tennis pros
Luke Jensen,
Murphy Jensen and
Todd Martin, a special students "Play with a Pro" tennis clinic, and an awards presentation and cocktail reception.
The school's Tennis Center, made possible in part by a lead gift from the Friedrich Family and JAF Foundation, and the on-going support of
Courtney Sale Ross and
Nicole Ross, is part of Ross School's initiative to expand its athletic facilities, which now includes a multi-purpose playing field that can be configured for soccer and lacrosse, a baseball diamond, six indoor-outdoor Har-tru tennis courts, the Upper School Fieldhouse and an outdoor basketball court.
Adults and students will have the opportunity to play with local tennis professionals, as well as guest celebrity pros. Private instruction with these visiting celebrity pros is also available upon request. Children can enjoy the special "Play with a Pro" tennis clinic, which will take place on the courts, while adults attend the awards presentation and cocktail reception at Ross School's new Upper School Fieldhouse.
While parents enjoy an awards presentation and cocktail reception, students ages four through 17 can boost their tennis skills at a special "Play with a Pro" tennis clinic from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Local tennis professionals and celebrity tennis pros will keep it casual with games and round robins as students improve their forehand, backhand and footwork on the court. They can play for prizes and even learn the speed of their own serve. Afterwards, the pros will sign autographs and take pictures with their provisional apprentices. Adults will also have the opportunity to play with the pros. Private instruction with visiting celebrity pros is also available upon request.
Tickets for "Play with a Celebrity Pro" are available upon request. For adults to play with Ross tennis professionals, tickets will be $550. For the student "Play with a Pro" Clinic, tickets will be $400 per student. For spectators tickets will be $100, and include the cocktail reception.
