Q&A with Group for the East End President Bob DeLuca.
Why EcoFabulous?
We want East Enders to know that Eco and Fabulous can coexist. Our farm-to-table approach to this year's benefit highlights local foods, sourced from local farms prepared by award-winning local chefs - because eating locally greatly reduces the environmental impacts associated with food transport and assures the exceptional taste and nutrition that only fresh, preservative-free local production can provide. And our EcoAuction will showcase an incredible array of sustainable and environmentally responsible products, because if we can build the market for sustainable products, we can reduce our impact on the earth.

How will funds raised at EcoFabulous in the East End be used?
The proceeds from our EcoFabulous event will be used to protect undeveloped land, improve the quality of our bays and harbors, challenge irresponsible development proposals, develop new strategies for energy conservation and natural resource protection, and educate thousands of local children and residents about the direct connection between the health of our local environment and future health of our economy. One of our key reasons for being is to help East Enders embrace a conservation ethic and lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
So how can East Enders lead a more sustainable lifestyle?
Spend time outside and get acquainted with the wonderful beauty of local landscape; support local agriculture by buying local produce and farm products; reduce our energy consumption by increasing the efficiency of appliances or considering alternative energy options like solar panels; get involved in the local decision making proces, or if you can't be present at meetings where land use decisions are made, support advocates that can. Read, eat and live local because commerce, lifestyle and actions send a clear message that environmental protection is a top priority.

Who supports the Group's work and this annual benefit?
Each year, this event attracts celebrities, philanthropists and local residents who all have the same goal in mind - preserving the natural environment of this beautiful place. Nearly 40 years ago a small but diverse group of East End residents began to observe the unprecedented rate of development racing across Long Island and realized that our fragile coastal environment and historic agricultural economy was at risk of complete elimination. Today, the Group is Eastern Long Island's largest professional conservation advocacy and education organization. Through our programs we are working to protect and restore the local environment and inspire a conservation ethic that will help every East End resident play a personal role in the future protection of our precious local environment
