On Thursday, April 8, join former NBA All Star and New York Knicks power forward Charles Oakley for Children’s Museum of the East End’s (CMEE) inaugural Virtual Poker Night Fundraiser.
“I’m delighted that the ‘Oak Tree’ himself is joining in our efforts to ensure that the vital needs of the most vulnerable in our community are being met,” said Steve Long, the Museum’s President. “If his talent at the table is anything like his skill on the court, the night is sure to be as competitive as it is fun.”
CMEE supporters will partake in a No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament with progressive blinds. The evening will utilize the same poker platform used by the World Poker Tour, ClubWPT. While you won’t need a good poker face to play, you’ll want to make sure to raise the stakes at the right time, because there’s a lot of great prizes up for grabs – including a rum and cigar set from Diplomatico, a basketball signed by NBA Hall-of- Famer Walt “Clyde” Frasier – and a gift card to spend in his Hell’s Kitchen restaurant, and dinner at Scarpetta Beach at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Children’s Museum of the East End’s ongoing COVID-19 Response efforts, including Food 2 Play, Children’s Museum of the East End’s food pantry, which was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and serves more than 70 local families. CMEE also offers virtual programming and support groups.
“Though it’s been a tough year for everyone, CMEE has continued to offer families hope for the future,” said Museum Trustee, Kevin Dudley. “The money raised during this event will enable the Museum to make even more of an impact in the lives of children living in the East End.”
Virtual Poker Night Fundraiser tickets start at $300 per player. Additionally, businesses can purchase a branded, dedicated table for eight players for $2,500.
