After a brief one-year break, Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach will celebrate the season by bringing back its beloved annual Summer Gala and Lobster Bash. This year’s gathering will take place on Thursday, July 25 at Dockers Waterside in East Quogue.
“I am so excited and honored to be a part of Maureen’s Haven, and the Summer Gala reinforces how much the East End community supports our mission to help the homeless,” noted Dan O’Shea, executive director. “I am looking forward to the 2019 Summer Gala.”
The evening will feature dinner, dancing, and a silent auction, as well as an open bar. “Past events have been so much fun and this year looks to be no different. We have East End Entertainment providing the music, with special guest Sanford on the sax,” O’Shea added. “And of course, Dockers is a fantastic location to have an event.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach, who provides support services, emergency shelter and compassionate care to the homeless on the East End of Long Island. The non-profit operates a Day Center, located in Riverhead, that is open year-round. It serves as a place where the homeless can seek when they need a break from the weather, or when in need of basic needs, food, and clothing. During the colder months, the non-profit also operates an Emergency Winter Shelter Program in partnership with houses of worship on both the North and South Forks. Additionally, Maureen’s Haven provides access to medical care, support services, case management, and housing assistance.
“Maureen’s Haven is truly a special place,” O’Shea reflected. “We are fortunate to be able to provide these much-needed services, and it is the community that plays a large role in supporting our mission. We are grateful to all the dedicated volunteers and supporters that have helped us make a difference is so many people’s live.”
The Annual Summer Gala and Lobster Bash will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets to the Gala and Bash are $150.
