The Sag Harbor Historical Society (SHHS) is hosting one of the final fêtes of the year. Its annual Spirit of the Season Party will take place at the Society’s Annie Cooper Boyd House on Saturday, December 29 from 3 to 5 p.m.
“The annual Spirit of the Season Gathering at the Annie Cooper Boyd House is like stepping back in time,” Nancy Remkus, SHHS Trustee, noted. “Surrounded by echoes of the past Annie’s paintings bring to life the Sag Harbor of yesteryear.”
Partygoers will be treated to seasonal refreshments, have the chance to explore the Annie Cooper Boyd House, mingle with guests, and more.
“This fun gathering offers a wonderful opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors and perhaps maybe make a new or two friends while celebrating the holidays together,” Remkus said.
Proceeds will support the Sag Harbor Historical Society, whose mission is “to promote and encourage public education and appreciation of Sag Harbor history; and to work for the preservation of historic buildings and sites; and to foster the preservation of the historic character of the village.”
“The Sag Harbor Historical Society works throughout the year to help to preserve the history of this beautiful village,” she added.
The Annie Cooper Boyd House, which serves as the Society’s headquarters, is one of Sag Harbor’s oldest houses. Built in 1796, Annie transformed the abode into a Victorian bungalow in 1906. Today, the previous owner is commemorated with Boyd’s paintings prominently displayed throughout.
The Annie Cooper Boyd House is located at 174 Main Street in Sag Harbor. For more information, visit sagharborhistorical.org.
