Where will you be during the final sunset before the end of daylight savings time? If you’re looking for something special to do, head to the Galban Barn in Sagaponack where you can revel in the bounty of harvest season during a Late-Season Fund-Raiser for The Bridgehampton Museum.
“The Bridgehampton Museum’s annual Sunset Party is a fabulous gathering of the museum’s members and friends,” John Eilertsen, Ph.D., The Bridgehampton Museum Executive Director, shared.
Taking place on Saturday, November 3 from 4 to 6 p.m., the annual Season’s End Sunset Party will feature a potluck buffet, music, and the last sunset before daylight savings time reverts to standard time, which will hopefully be a spectacular sight.
“There is always too much food, lots of laughter, great music and great anticipation for viewing the sun setting over the farm fields that surround Muffy Galban’s beautifully restored barn,” Eilertsen added.
The Fall Gathering and Barn Party will support The Bridgehampton Museum’s programs and projects. The Museum’s mission is “to inspire the public’s awareness of and appreciation for our community’s history, oral history and cultural traditions.”
Currently, the Museum is focused on restoring the Nathaniel Rogers House, an effort which the Museum expects to complete by December 2019. The Museum plans to use the Rogers House as its new headquarters, providing “an active center for historical research and for programs that celebrate and interpret the history and cultural traditions of Bridgehampton and neighboring localities.”
In addition to welcoming performances and educational programs, the Nathaniel Rogers House will offer dedicated archival and research areas, like the Helen & Claus Hoie Study Center. There will also be gallery space that will focus on local history, such as the whaling industry, local street and track racing, local art and artists, metal banks and toys, and other relevant subjects. The public will be able to contribute by documenting their family or community history at a sound studio.
Admission to the annual Sunset Party is $50 per person. There is no fee for children 12-years-old and under.
