The eighth annual Blue Dream Summer Gala will take place at The Muses in Southampton on Saturday, August 25. Hosted by The Dormition Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, this year’s fundraiser will commemorate the Southampton Town Police Department’s work to end the opioid crisis and the Long Island Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, which is dedicated to the conservation of land and water, addressing issues such as climate change, food sustainability and water conservation.
Nancy Kelly, Director of the Nature Conservancy Long Island’s Chapter, and Southampton Town Police Chief, Steven Skrynecki will serve as Blue Dream Summer Gala Honorary Co-Chairs.
Kelly earned a Master’s Degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and is a three-time recipient of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region 2 Environmental Quality Champion Award.
Chief Skrynecki, a recipient of the Medal of Distinguished Services, is one of the most decorated members of the NCPD. He is also a board member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Narcotics & Dangerous Drugs Committee and has initiated several new programs in Southampton addressing illegal drugs.
Proceeds from the Blue Dream Summer Gala will support the Long Island Conservancy, the Southampton Town Police and the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church, with 70 percent of proceeds going to the honorees.
In the past, the gala has benefited the Lonely Whale Foundation, Wounded Warrior for Sports, the Children’s Tumor Foundation, the Navy Seal’s Trident House, Amani Global Works, Refugees International, and the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children. Over $1 million has been donated to charities honored by Blue Dream.
The Church supports local charities such as the Bridgehampton Head Start Program, The Suffolk Perinatal Coalition, Long Island’s Honor Flight Program for our Veterans, Hamptons Health Society, Dominican Sisters, The Bread and More Soup Kitchen and Southampton Hospital, to name a few.
The Blue Dream gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by a night of dinner and dancing.
