The American Heart Association’s Long Island Annual Heart and Stroke Ball will be celebrating its 55th year on Thursday, April 26 at the Garden City Hotel – with a Rock n Roll theme. This annual event is held to commemorate the outstanding accomplishments of individuals and companies in the area of cardiovascular science and leadership in wellness.
“The American Heart Association’s Heart and Stroke Ball celebrates the work and mission of our donors and volunteers; and — most importantly — the lives saved and improved because of everyone’s involvement in events like this,” said Renee Pope, who will serve as Heart and Stroke Ball Co-Chair, along with Todd Fabricant.
This year’s Annual Heart Ball will honor Kimon Bekelis, MD, Catholic Health Services of Long Island, who will receive the Neurological Science Honoree Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Award and Jorge L. Gardyn, MD, F.A.C.P, Island Occupational Medical Resources P.C., who will receive the Cardiovascular Science Honoree Heart Disease Intervention in Fire Services Award. WBAB Afternoon Drive host Fingers will emcee the event.
The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization committed to fighting heart disease, the number one killer worldwide, and stroke, the leading cause of severe disability. In addition to funding innovative research, the organization’s public health education empowers the community to live healthier and enjoy more peace of mind about cardiovascular disease. Their goal by 2020 is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.
The Heart and Stroke Ball is expected to have more than 500 attendees from the Long Island medical and corporate community. The evening will include dinner, dancing and a silent auction offering an exciting assortment of generously donated items.
Tickets to the Long Island Annual Heart and Stroke Ball are $600. Cocktail Hour starts at 6 p.m. followed by the program, dinner and dancing at 7 pm. This year’s music will be provided by Dane Wright Band.
