On Saturday, December 9, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Sag Harbor Lions Club is presenting a celebratory soiree at Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton to benefit the Guide Dog Foundation.
“The Sag Harbor Lions Club is looking forward to the reception, so we can introduce our guests to the Guide Dog Foundation’s work of training service dogs for visually impaired individuals,” said Steven Espach, President of the Sag Harbor Lions Club. “I’m also happy to share a glass of cheer with new people to introduce them to what [our] mission is.”
The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind is a not-for-profit charitable organization that was founded in 1946. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired by providing guide dogs and training free of charge. The foundation estimates that the cost of breeding, raising, training, and placing an individual dog exceeds $50,000.
“I’m also happy to share a glass of cheer with new people to introduce them to what [our] mission is,” Espach shared.
Appetizers, wine, beer, and cocktails will be served at the Sag Harbor Lions Club’s Reception For the Guide Dog Foundation, in addition to storytelling at 4:30 p.m.
“As a veterinarian, and the first female Sag Harbor Lions Club member, I am excited to be hosting this event at Almond to benefit the Guide Dog Foundation,” added Dr. Scarlett Magda, Veterinarians International President. “Aiding the sight-impaired is a priority for Lions globally, and a cause near and dear to my heart.”
Proceeds from this event will go towards the Sag Harbor Lions Charitable Trust, a not-for-profit organization, and the Guide Dog Foundation.
Tickets for the event are $45 per person. Individuals also have the option to join the Lions Club for a special price-fixed dinner after the main reception. Tickets for the dinner are an additional $35.
The Sag Harbor Lions Club signed its charter in 1954. Its mission is to “empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.”
