While it may not be warm enough for you to spend the entire day swimming in the Atlantic Ocean just yet, the Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA) is already toasting to the season that we all look forward to during its Summer Kick Off Benefit Party. On Saturday, April 22, join the Hampton Lifeguard Association at Westlake Fish House in Montauk from 7 to 11 p.m. for an evening of music by Montauk Manny, a cash bar, delicious food and more.
“Our mission is to waterproof the Hamptons,” explained John Ryan Sr., Lifeguard for Life, HLA board. “HLA supports so many programs from the local swim team to our 24-year-old junior lifeguard program and all of these programs are run by volunteers.”
Funds raised at the Summer Kick Off Benefit Party will support the Junior Lifeguard and Lifeguard Training programs. “This event raises funds that go right back into the programs, whether it’s for equipment or whatever they need to make these the best programs they can be,” he explained.
The evening will also include the opportunity to support HLA by taking a chance on silent and Chinese auction items that will encompass a wide range of remarkable items like amazing getaways, gift baskets, restaurant gift certificates, luxurious spa treatments, and much more.
“We believe we have the biggest and most successful junior lifeguard training program in America with hundreds of kids who have successfully become better swimmers as a result,” added Ryan. “We look forward to another great season!”
Tickets to Hampton Lifeguard Association’s Summer Kick Off Benefit Party are $35 per person or $50 a couple. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting Hampton Lifeguard Association committee member Amy Forst at [email protected].
HLA, a chapter of the United States Lifeguard Association (USLA), wants to make the South Fork a safer place by waterproofing the area. The 501(c) (3) Non-profit Tax Exempt Organization supports the Lifeguard Training Program (45th year) and Tournament Competition, Junior Lifeguard Program (24th year) and Tournament Competition, Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad (15th year), East Hampton YMCA Hurricane Swim Club (19th year) and In-school Swim Programs.
