The Parrish Art Museum's annual fundraiser, Parrish Presents, is a holiday shopping extravaganza that takes place the day after Thanksgiving at the Southampton museum. The weekend-long event opens on Friday, Nov. 23 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to Nov. 25, with a preview cocktail party that offers guests the first-hand opportunity to shop in the marketplace for home furnishings, books, art, china, crystal, jewelry, furniture, silver, and vintage clothing - all at remarkable bargains.
Past items in the marketplace have included a Tiffany tea-set; a Hermes handbag; a Karl Springer parchment game table and desk; a Brown Jordan outdoor furniture set;
Louis Vuitton luggage; a vintage Halston fur jacket; first-editions of rare books; objets d'art and more.
While shoppers enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres, they can also browse through silent auction items such as designer accessories, jewelry and antiques. A gift bazaar will fill the museum's concert hall and will feature luxury items from a wide range of specialty merchants. In addition, there will be several book signings that evening by Pamela Banker and Leslie Banker, authors of "The Pocket Renovator: Kitchens, Bathrooms and Home Renovation"; Danielle Ganek, author of "Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him"; Matt Marinovich, author of "Strange Skies"; and Wendy Wax, author of "Renoir and the Boy with Long Hair".
Admission to The Parrish Presents Preview Cocktail Party for Friends, Patrons, Sponsors and Benefactors begins at $150 for non-members of the museum and is $125 for museum members. All proceeds from the event benefit The Parrish's ongoing educational programs.
Parrish Presents is open to the general public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25. Admission is $7 per person and is free for ages 18 and under. The 2008 Parrish Presents event co-chairs are John Bjornen and Cee Scott Brown with honorary co-chairs, Gillis MacGil Addison, Lyn Hamer, and Leslie Horn. This is the 15th year of the fundraising event.
