The 5th Annual Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink is back this August, and once again community members are invited to paddle board for a good cause as they raise money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
The two-part event, which will take place on Saturday, August 6th, will start at 8 a.m. with a morning paddleboard race at Haven’s Beach in Sag Harbor.
“Paddle boarding is a personal reprieve for me,” explained Maria Baum, co-host and BCRF Board Member. “As a breast cancer survivor, the sport gave me and continues to give me a much-needed outlet. Sharing it with others while raising funds for life-saving research is my personal way of paying it forward.”
After the morning’s fun competition, guests can gather at Fairview on Mecox Bay (269 Horsemill Lane, Bridgehampton) for a Sunset Party, starting at 7 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a performance by Nile Rodgers and the ladies of Chic, as well as a DJ set by acclaimed DJ Brendan Fallis.
BCRF hopes that this year’s Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink is as successful as previous years, which collectively have raised more than $5 million since its inception, and $1.65 million in 2015 alone, all of which has helped fund some of the most innovative research aimed at curing breast cancer in the world.
Actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow will be hosting this year’s event, after making a surprise appearance last year. In addition to Paltrow’s presence, host committee members include Tracy Anderson and Tory Burch, among others.
The paddle board race registration fee is $175 and tickets to Party for Pink are $1,500.
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s mission is “to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research.” Raising over $550 million since its inception, the organization is one of the largest non-governmental funders of breast cancer research globally. In 2016, BCRF has committed almost $54 million to research in support of more than 240 researchers at leading medical institutions worldwide.
