On Saturday, June 18th, more than 250 Group for the East End supporters will come together at The Bridge in Bridgehampton for the Swing into Summer benefit. Richard Kind will serve as the evening’s emcee, with Stéphane Samuel and Robert M. Rubin as hosts.
Funds from this year’s benefit will focus on the state of water quality in the region. “The Group has been working for more than four decades to protect our bays, harbors and drinking water on the East End,” explained the Group’s board chair, Katherine Leahy Birch. “In addition to bringing awareness to this critical issue, the financial support we receive for the event will help us make sure children can swim and fish in our coastal waters without getting ill, and we’ll always have fresh, clean water to drink.”
As attendees take in unforgettable sunset views of Peconic Bay, they can enjoy an array of specialty cocktails, as well as a variety of local wines from Wölffer Estate Vineyard, and hors d’oeuvres. Guests can also admire the hilltop clubhouse designed by architect Roger Ferris, and partygoers won’t want to miss out on the items featured in the exclusive auction, which covers everything from a Butterfield & Robinson bike tour through Portugal, to Italian hand-crafted Bomber skis and tickets to the Tony-Award winning hit, Hamilton. Once cocktail hour is over, attendees will be treated to a delectable dinner prepared by The Bridge, followed by dancing and music from internationally renowned DJ Sam French.
2016 co-chairs include Katherine and Marco Birch, Elaine Crocker, Graciela and Munir Dauhajre, Grace Koo and Kerry Heffernan, Genevieve and Rob Lynch, Robbianne Mackin and Dave Jasper, Susan Abdalla and Peter Stern, Kim White and Kurt Wolfgruber and Donna Winston.
Tickets begin at $1,000.
Group for the East End was founded in 1972 “to serve as a community advocate for conservation in response to broad-based community concern about the future development of the region.” The organization’s mission is to protect and restore the environment of eastern Long Island.
