The Southampton Garden Club (SGC) is hosting Butterflies, Bees, Birds and Blooms on Friday, August 21st from 5 to 7 p.m. Taking place at the Thomas Halsey Homestead, the summer cocktail party will celebrate Southampton Village’s 375th anniversary and The Southampton Garden Club’s restoration of the original herb garden at the Halsey Homestead, which was established in 1648.
Proceeds from the event will benefit SGC civic beautification projects in Southampton Village. In June, members of the Garden Club planted a butterfly garden at St. Andrew’s Dune Church. “We planted about 75 plants, mostly from Lynch’s but about one third from my garden,” said Pat Nadosy. “I bought some of the Asclepias a month before and potted them up so they were good size.” While the gardens are located on Dune Church property, the SGC will maintain the area throughout the summer and has plans to add new plants in the fall. “We created two gardens – one across from the south entrance to the church in the dunes, one to the east of the easternmost whale pot,” shared Nadosy.
Tickets are $125.
