Sag Harbor Historical Society Toasting To Annie Cooper Boyd’s 150th Birthday During Annual Hamptons Holiday Party

The holiday season at the Sag Harbor Historical Society features a focus on the history of Annie Cooper Boyd. The East End Historical Society is offering tours of the Annie Cooper Boyd House, which dates back to the 18th century, at 1 p.m. on Saturday December 13th, Sunday December 14th, Saturday December 20th and Sunday December 21st. Current exhibits at the House showcase gifts that the Society has received over the years from supporters. It was once thought that the Annie Cooper Boyd House was where David Frothingham originally published the Long Island Herald, Long Island’s first newspaper, but that was proven false and it is most likely that Frothingham actually ran his business from a building located across the street.

The Society highlights Sag Harbor’s rich history through a photograph collection that includes pictures of local residents, buildings, and sites within and around the Hamptons Village, ledgers that tell the history of the Village, and an extensive collection of artwork featuring local sites and scenes created by Cooper Boyd, the former owner of the Society’s headquarters.

On Sunday, December 29th from 3 to 5 p.m., join the Sag Harbor Historical Society for their annual holiday party. This year will pay tribute to Annie Cooper Boyd’s 150th Birthday and celebrate the momentous occasion by highlighting donations given to the Historical Society.
