The 13th Annual Box Art Auction for The East End Hospice
at The Ross School Center for Well-Being in East Hampton has started to receive submissions of box pieces.
The original auction started 13 years ago when artists with ties to the Hamptons agreed to take a box and create some sort of art.
"A hundred well-known artists each take a small box and create a work to benefit the hospice," said Gabrielle Bamberger
, a spokeswoman for the event.
Some of the artists include Daniel Pollera
, Carol Hunt
and Ronnie Chalif
The public can view the box art pieces for auction at a "Meet the Artists" reception on Wednesday, August 28th in Hoie Hall at St. Luke's Church in East Hampton. The art will also be on display in Hoie Hall on Thursday, August 29th.
The silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 7 and the live auction, hosted by Bonnie Grice
of Peconic Public Broadcasting, will start at 6 p.m. Participants can call-in for the auction or bid online. The actual event on September 7th has a $75 entrance fee.
East End Hospice provides end-of-life care for residents in the Hamptons and Brookhaven. They will soon be breaking ground to construct another hospice in Westhampton.
