The Jam Session Mission Statement And Philosophy
Keeping live music alive! The Jam Session is based on the art of improvising with Jazz as the primary foundation. However, other styles and influences are present as well. The Jam Session is continuously trying to promote and encourage musicians and audience members from the global community participate, creating an eclectic mix of music and culture.

The Jam Session is inspired by the late night jam sessions and loft
rehearsals in New York City and we believe that the evolution and survival of improvisational music takes place in front of a live audience, being inclusive and accessible to all, but especially to young people:

 • To promote live progressive music by hosting weekly jam sessions as wwell as collaborating with radio stations, television stations, organizations, bands and various promoters of live music.

 • To create a consistent venue, featuring live, quality music - primarily promoting Jazz, Latin and World music.

 • To provide a venue for up-and-coming and professional musicians.

 • To provide a creative and nurturing venue where musicians can
practice their craft before a live audience.

 • To create a place where musicians can network with other musicians as well as showcasing their talent.

 • To provide a place in the community where people of all ages and demographics can enjoy eclectic live music for free or low cost on a consistent basis.

The Jam Session will host a the concert for the theatre's Annual Appeal. Tickets are $30 per person which includes general admission and some light nibbles. A cash bar will be available. The featured musicians are all past special guests at The Jam Session series or part of The Thursday Night Live Band which is The Jam Session house band.

"The concert is a culmination of the more than 130 performances of The Jam Session," says Claes Brondal, organizer of The Jam Session. "Many of the performances have taken place at Bay Street Theatre and we just wanted to give something back to Bay Street during its current Annual Appeal fundraising drive. It is a vital part of our community and this is one way we can help. The concert also fits our objective of keeping jazz alive. This benefit concert is a great symbol and testament to the success and well being of live jazz in Sag Harbor and across Long Island."

People of all ages can enjoy a wonderful mix of Fusion with Latin, World and Jazz music. Peconic Public Broadcasting, WPPB 88.3FM, will be co-presenting the evening as well as recording the concert for a future broadcast. Plus concert goers can enjoy nibbles provided by Conca Dora and Bay Burger.
