Amagansett - Two benefit concerts are scheduled in mid-September to raise money for medical expenses and loss of income for well-known local musician
Mick Hargreaves. Hargreaves sustained a severe head injury in an unprovoked assault in late July and has no medical insurance. He is currently convalescing from his injuries and while expected to make a full recovery will not return to a full working schedule for some time.
Hargreaves has received an enormous outpouring of concern and support from throughout the local community as well as all across Long Island. He has expressed "immense gratitude and thanks to everyone" and is very appreciative of the efforts being made on his behalf with these concerts and others fundraising as well.
On September 16, friends, family, fellow musicians and fans will gather for a concert at The Stephen Talkhouse billed as Benefit Concert for Mick East: A Night of Song, Support and Celebration. The concert will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and include music by many well-known East End musicians, $20 at door.
On September 18, friends, family, fellow musicians and fans will similarly gather for a concert at the Moose Hall (Greenlawn) billed as Benefit Concert for Mick West: A Night of Song, Support and Celebration. The concert will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and feature a line-up of some of Long Island's most popular bands, $30 at door, and includes beer, wine and soda.
Additional donations can be made now directly on Facebook on the Mick Hargreaves Recovery Fund page. Facebook event pages for both concerts have been established: Benefit Concert for Mick East and Benefit Concert for Mick West.
