Bridgehampton - On Saturday, August 13, the Animal Rescue Fund of The Hamptons (ARF) will host "Magic Under the Moonlight," an evening of dinner and dancing on the ocean at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club. Guests will enjoy a raw bar and cocktails, followed by dinner and live magic by magician
JB Benn. The party will continue with music by DJ duo
Andrew/Andrew and a beach bonfire under the stars. Over 200 high profile guests from New York and the Hamptons are expected to attend the magical night. The evening is co-chaired by
Rachel and
Gary Sumers. All proceeds will benefit ARF, the leading animal adoption center on the East End of Long Island.
Held on the full moon, this special evening will honor
Dr. Lewis Berman, Veterinarian and Founder of Park East Animal Hospital, for his 50 years of outstanding veterinary practice and service to the animal welfare community. Dr. Berman has been a dedicated board member of ARF for over 13 years. Longtime animal rescue advocate and renowned
New York Post columnist and NBC commentator
Cindy Adams will introduce Dr. Berman and present him with his award.
"This is very meaningful for my career and I am touched to be recognized by ARF. It is a wonderful organization that does outstanding work for the animals of Long Island. Over the years I have had the honor and privilege to care for countless amazing pets and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate them with ARF this summer," said Dr. Berman.
Most of ARF's animals come from animal control centers, puppy mill rescue efforts, and from people who can no longer care for their pets. Each year ARF's state-of-the-art Adoption Center admits over 700 dogs and cats and provides food, spaying and neutering services, bathing and grooming, a warm place to sleep, and excellent veterinary care. ARF also introduces human care and affection, exercise, and playing. Once medically cleared and socialized the dogs and cats are put up for adoption at ARF to find new homes. Since inception, ARF has rescued more than 18,000 cats and dogs and placed them with loving families.
Joining in the festivities this year will be a proud group of ARF cats and dogs available for adoption. The annual Beach Ball event is an important evening as it raises funds that are vital to the organization and its mission.
For the first time ARF will be working with charitybuzz as the official online auction dealer to help promote this year's auction items. Experiences and packages include a backstage tour of NBC with
Chuck Scarborough, a signed copy of
Keith Richards' biography, tickets and backstage passes to the Big Apple Circus and a chance to meet Grandma, and a round of golf at the exclusive Maidstone Golf Club. Bidders will have the chance to make offers online from July 28 to August 18, 2011 by visiting charity buzz's website.
"The Beach Ball is a fantastic party that we look forward to every year. It's a wonderful way to bring together our supporters and help raise awareness for ARF while having fun in the midst of a beautiful summer setting. This year's event is truly a celebration as we honor Dr. Berman and 50 years of the finest animal
health care available," said
Sara Davison, Executive Director of ARF.
The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons provides for the health and welfare of dogs and cats on the South Fork of Long Island and Shelter Island through shelter and adoption services, medical care, spaying and neutering programs, community outreach and humane education. Founded in 1974, ARF is the leading animal Adoption Center on the East End.
